The Mossberg 510 Mini Super Bantam Shotgun is a great choice for first time shooters, or anyone who wants a lightweight shotgun. Mossberg's 510 Mini is Mossberg's most compact design ever and, arguably, the world's smallest fully-functional pump action shotgun. This 20 gauge has a 10-1/2'' - 11-1/2'' length of pull, measures just over 34'' and is extremely lightweight at only 5 lbs. Comes with a vent rib barrel, 3'' chamber, 3 + 1 capacity, accu-set of chokes, and an adjustable black synthetic stock. Dual bead sights.

Awesome youth starter gun I bought this for my 8 yr old son and my 11 yr old daughter. I left the stock at the lowest attachement so it fits thier reach. They both loved it during practice/training and we went duck hunting in Ga. My son hit his first wood duck! My daughter did not have any luck with ducks but she did awesome with a turkey in spring season!! Just last month my son killed a hog using a slug! I'm a very proud dad!! Geat gun and I have had no issues. We have shot bird shot, turkey shot, steel and slugs out of this gun with no issues. November 3, 2014

Slugs for 20 gauge?

Details:
Can I use slugs in this?

I am a very older adult (55!), and I'm JUST learning about FIREARMS.

And I'm a little guy--only 5'2", 125 lbs,

Looking for something for plinking...I DOUBT hunting (but who knows)...and for home protection. So I'm looking for a starter gun at low cost that will do maximum duty for minimal needs.

Can I use the 20 with slugs, and NOT do this with the 410? Or I can't use slugs with either? (I understand that the 410 may be fixed choke.)

THANKS!

First, if your using guns for home defense, use a pistol of a .22 rifle. Personally, the .22 rifle is better. But secondly, yes, just that the slug isn't as accurate. You can either purchase a slug gun instead or get a fully rifled shotgun barrel. My father is 62 and he is like you. He uses a Remington 870 youth 20 gauge though. Use that instead.

A:
First of all, you should get him a .410 gauge or 28 gauge unless you plan him to hunt. Second, go to his local range and see the rules. Or just check Florida state gun rules.
Happy shooting!

This gun must be handled to appreciate the short size and smaller grip stock, designed especially for youths. Mossberg also includes a coupon in the box for a full size stock and forearm when your nephew outgrows this gun.

The laws would depend on the state and shooting range i would guess. Ask your shooting range on the laws and there regulations. Along the lines of a starter gun. This guns recoil is amazing with the pad on it, and is super durable and easy to clean. I believe, if you showed the little guy how to do it. he could easily do it himself.
