Bought this for my wife for home defense. Love it!!! Wonderful shotgun for an amazing price. Looks very intimidating with the 20" barrel and has a great round capacity. Construction semms very sturdy as does the overall action of the gun. This bad boy stays right by the bed at night. The only downside is that there is an installed swivle attatchment for a sling on the buttstock but nothing included on the barrel... minor inconvenience.

I am looking for a gun that I can use for having fun at the range and home defense. If I decide to buy a shot gun I want one that I can also go skeet shooting with. I can't buy a hand gun yet either.Answers
A:
This gun would be great for anything you want to use it for. I would not buy a handgun for home defense myself. A shotgun is so much better for that, and you can use this shotgun for anything. This is the gun you've been looking for.Details:
Looking for a good home defense shotgun with accessories, pistol grip, large round cap. etc.Answers
A:
No, I would not buy this gun for home defense. A Remington 870 pump has so many more accessories, and it is a better gun anyway. Do not buy this gun for home defense.A:
Almost anything you can think of as "tactical" is made for the mossberg 500/590 series. Pistol grips by themselves range from $9-$30 or mossberg sells a blued model 500 with a factory installed pistol grip thats also cheaper than this model. Cruiser model I believe. If a self defense situation requires more than a couple 12ga shells to resolve you're having a REALLY bad day.Answers

The marinecoat finish is matte. It's not stainless steel or anything shiny...Answers

You can shoot a slug through the barrel of this gun, but bird shot would be better. If you want to shoot slugs through it, buy a rifled barrel to put on it. Do not shoot slugs through the barrel that is on this gun!A:
The product description says it comes with a modified choke. I believe Remington used to include 3 choke tubes (Full, Mod, IC), but the last one I purchased was 8 years ago so it has changed since.A:
You can shoot a slug but it will only be accurate at a very short range (50 yards or less)Answers

This is not a fact answer, this is personal. I wouldn't use this gun for dove hunting. I would get a bigger gun with a longer barrel. Maybe this helps, and maybe it doesn't, but I would not shoot doves with this gun.A:
This particular shotgun is a cylinder bore defense shotgun and does not contain screw in chokes. Chokes are preferred for wing shooting. More Mossberg pump shotguns have been sold in the World than any other brand of shotgun, especially Remington. The Mossberg are easier to field strip to clean, have simpler mechanisms are are less expensive.A:
No. This shotgun is intended to be used for defense. You may want to look at a 870 Express by Remington. It is pretty much the best all round shotgun you can buy for the money.A:
WIth it's short (20") barrel and extended magazine tube, this is a home defence shotgun and would not be my choice for dove hunting. Look at a Mossberg Model 500 field shotgun with a 26" or 28" barrel that would allow you to swing and lead better on soaring doves, and a standard magazine tube that can be "plugged" to reduce shell capacity in accordance with Federal and State migratory bird hunting regulations.1 of 1
