  • Must-have classic trout fly pattern
  • Imitates a wide variety of aquatic insects
  • Solid choice when mayflies, stoneflies and caddis fall
  • One of the most popular and productive flies
  • Beautifully crafted on sharp hooks
  • One dozen
Peek at any starter fly kit and there's likely to be some Elk Hair Caddis included, and for good reason, too. One of the most effective dry flies of all time, the Elk Hair Caddis is hard to fish wrong, and is a solid choice when trout are feeding on a wide variety of insects, including stoneflies, mayflies, and caddis, of course. The elk hair and hackle combine to let this pattern ride high, even in rough water.

Tan vs Olive Elk Hair Caddis

Details:
When (or where) would you use a tan vs a olive color. In all the fishing reports I see they mention a elk hail dry cadis in size xxx but I have never seen a color mentioned. Does the color matter ?
