I have been using these little chuggers in either blue/white or green/yellow for several years. We rig them with a # 6 hook, usually a # 7732 ss, and 100 # mono. We put a spacer bead between the knot and the lure to let the hook free swing and position the hook at the end of the skirt. I run a bird with a wide range behind it for marlin or tuna and position the little chugger about 10 feet from the bird. I run the bird from the rod and the chugger off the outriggers. This picks up the dorado, tuna, sailfish and other stuff attracted to the bird. Sometimes they nail the wide range as well and we get a double.
I used to run a ballyhoo like this but the little chugger works as well and is easier to use and I don't have to mess with ballyhoo.
Try this...be ready for a lot of action. This is a killer set up for big dorado.
