The reel needs work on the bail due to malfunction. About every other cast was bail problems. It was fustrating because the line would get loose or it would get tangled up with fish eyes. Mitchell still makes a descent reel but this model needs work.

I bought the Mitchell 300XGe spinning reel and love it. I pared it with a medium light(ML) Ugly Stik and have had great success with it. Its smooth, light weight and durable. Definitely worth the buy.

I bought two 300XGe's last summer and found them to be excellent spinning reels.
the reel performs well and is not too heavy. I paired it up with a 6' M Berkley Lightening Rod - I will buy a couple more later this spring.

The Mitchel 300 Xge is left or right handed. The handle can be placed on either side! I would however, go for an other brand, like Diawa, Shimano. Because the quality of the Mitchel reels has gone down dramatically in the past few years. I have a new Mitchel 308 Xe, and I used twice and the bearing are shot in it, it makes the whirring sound when you reel it in. I have older models that are ten years old that work just as new. I also have a 1973, made in France model that works better than all my other Mitchels. It's up to you, but I would buy an other brand.A:
This item should be Ambidexterits to be able to switch from handle from right to left by unscrewing the side.1 of 1
