These Minn Kota® Terrova™ Trolling Motors come with i-Pilot® Link pre-installed, and feature Universal Sonar 2 (US2) for exclusive fish-finding features from an uncluttered, interference-free, dual beam sonar with an integrated, concealed transducer that stays protected and out of your way.

Minn Kota put these Terrova freshwater bow mount trolling motors through thousands of hours of in-lab and on-the-water testing. As a result, this generation of Terrova Trolling Motors set a new standard in quality and performance. A Weedless Wedge 2 prop features swept-back, flared blades for reliable performance. An indestructible composite shaft is warranted by the manufacturer for life! Minn Kota Terrova trolling motors run cooler and more quietly than conventional motors, dissipating heat, extending battery power, and extending motor life.

Very pleased I was reluctant to change out my bow mount trolling motor setup from the old school gator type, but I am glad I did. So much more worry free fishing time without constantly putting the motor in check. May 13, 2014
Terrova As the other reviewers stated : This unit, coupled with Humminbird units will change the way you approach fishing. From the ease at which it allows you to fish to returning to productive fishing areas.. The only con I have found is that you need additional connector cables to connect to your HB unit. I not sure why since both HB and MK are one company. You would think that their engineers would have talked to each other when designing the interface between their products. Unless you go through a very expensive Ethernet hub, you have a choice- the 2D sonar from your trolling motor or the 2D sonar from your HB transducer. If you choose to connect the trolling motor transducer to your HB unit you will need to purchase 2 additional cords. An Ethernet adapter cable and a Y cord splitter. The product itself is outstanding. Just poor engineering in the design process by MK and HB. March 21, 2014
Worth every penny I love this troller. I installed this on my 18 ft Triton bass boat. I got the 45 inch shaft with 80 lb thrust. Install was pretty easy and with the correct adapter it hooked to my Lowrance X96 with ease and the US2 works perfect with it. On the first trip out there was a good amount of wind gusting throughout the day. The advanced autopilot and cruise control are my two best friends. Even in the wind I was able to fish instead of man the trolling motor pedal. The remote worked great and being able to control the motor from anywhere in the boat was awesome. It really allows you to fish and take the work out of trolling. One feature I was happy I got was the foot pedal for this unit instead of my first choice of the Powerdrive V2. During the few times I couldn't use the remote it was very nice to have the pedal, this was especially useful going through the flooded timbers. The unit did have a bit of a learning curve which would probably have been shorter in better weather. It took some time to learn how long the unit took to sometimes lock in to a point and had some drift from time to time in the wind. Read the included book, it explains this and its features very well and made using the motor much easier. I was alittle worried about all the features but I quickly found the remote and the features were very easy to figure out and use. The other thing I had to learn was the steering was a bit slower than the last MinnKota I had with the pedal. This unit is far more effortless to steer with the pedal than anything I have used in the past. This has been my best buy for my bass boat. I can not wait to use it again. It is also very good at making your fishing friends jealous. Even in the bad weather I was able to do much more fishing than I ever would have been able to do before. You really do fish. The trolling motor is now out of mind now. I have read some reviews saying this unit was hard to put out and pick up. I did not fins this true at all. With a press of the button and a slight push the troller tries to fall into the water. Picking it up was just and simple left and tilt. As long as you can bend at the waist and grab the head you should have no issues. I find it much easier than my last cord pull model. October 19, 2013
Nice This thing is the cats Meow! Removed the old Trolling motor and installed this one in about an hour. I had two little problems, the first was no nut for the prop...trip to the local hardware store...the other problem, I had to call in and the lady was very nice and asked me to check that the battery connections were good...I felt like a real idiot...cleaned and retightened the connection and this thing has not missed a beat since. Love it, Love it, Love it. After I saw how well it worked with my new humminbird 898c HD SI. I got rid of my Lowrance HDS and ordered me another Humminbird. August 26, 2013

I don't understand what the transducer in the motor does for me. Will it combine sonar with my humminbird or do I select between using sonar in the minn kota or humminbird?

Yes and No. An Ethernet hub or switch would be needed to put more than one transducer input available to your HB Unit. If you chose to connect the universal transducer to the HB unit directly, you will need to purchase an Ethernet adapter cable and a Y cord splitter. If you go via the latter route, you will lose the 2D sonar from your HB transducer but will retain all SI and DI from the HB transducer. Your 2D sonar will come from your MK sonar device. The only advantage I could find for using the Y cord would be if you vertical fish from the area above the trolling motor transducer so you can stay right over what the 2D sonar is depicting.

The sonar in the Minn-Kota is already in the trolling motor. Minn Kota® Universal Sonar 2 Adapter Cables would need to be purchased for the two to work together. For the Humminbird you would need model MKR-US2-8.

A:
It all will depend on how deep you fish. If you are in very shallow water, the motor will need to be raised. I have the same issue on my boat, since BPro did not carry a shorter shaft when I purchased my unit. You will just need to be more careful when fishing near the motor if the shaft is not fully extended into the water (due to water depth) so you do not smack a rod tip off the unit.

No, I have some friends that opted for the 60" shaft in order to get the 101 thrust. They have not had any problems with its operation

A:
You will want to measure your boat when it is fully loaded with gear and people for a regular day of fishing. Measure from intended mounting location (transom or bow) to the waterline of the loaded boat. Then add 18 inches. That's the shaft length you are looking for.

Thanks!

A:
The motor has a universal sonar installed internally on the unit. All wires are hidden and routed inside the shaft. The Trolling motor itself does not have any lake master capability unless it is used in conjunction with a compatible HB device.

The motor comes ready to go, you can work it with the foot pedal, remote, or Humminbird. If you want to use the contour on the Humminbird you need the Lake Master Map. The map is incredible but will work only with the Humminbird.

Motor comes with universal sonar. You will need to purchase the adaptor cord for your particular type of fish finder. The Lake Master chip is also required and must be purchased seperatly. It will only work if you are running Humminbird equipment.
