WOW , this thing is sweet! Put Talon on my Tracker Pro Team 175. Cinch to install! 30 minutes to put on and hook up. Already had it out in winds in excess of 30 mph.....held me right where I wanted to be. Looked at Power Pole but decided to go with Talon mostly due to price. Next to my sonar...best money I spent on boat. Love this product and would recomend it to any one. CAUTION: make sure to check clearance of garage door and frame. I only have an inch to spare. Also will have to watch when going under bridges and thru culverts. Talon does stick up quite a bit higher than anything on boat. May 2, 2011
#1 in the Nation!! Just put the Talon to the test. Worked Great. I put it on my 25 ft Baystealth. There is a T top on the boat which acts as a sail in any wind. This thing held Great in 25-32mph winds. Thats ALOT To hold. I'm VERY impressed. Installation was a breeze!! Mount it and connect it to your battery.... Comes with 2 remotes at no extra charge, the other guys charge almost 200.00 for the remote kit. March 27, 2011
BEST INVENTION EVER!!!!!! BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT AND WAS SKEPTICAL UNTIL I TRIED IT ON THE WATER. THIS MAY VERY WELL BE THE GREATEST INVENTION EVER AND POSSIBLY THE BEST INVESTMENT I HAVE EVER MADE FOR FISHING ACCESSORIES. I RECOMMEND THE MINN-KOTA TALON FOR ANYONE THAT OWNS A BOAT. February 27, 2011
Didn't Work The Talon said it was more powerful and faster than the competition. My tournament partner has a different shallow water anchor on his boat and we never used my Ranger in tournaments last year because I could not anchor. I thought this would work, but when the anchor hit the bottom the unit would stop going down. I kept hitting the down button to try and put the spike down harder but it won't let you do that. Luckily the guys at Tracker traded me out for Sportsman's Edition Anchor. We will see how that works. January 17, 2011

Talon makes a tilt bracket that lets you fold your Talon down inside your boat. Its a must have.

The Talon will stick up about 2 foot above your out board motor. The overall hight will depend on how high your trailer runners have the boat bottom off the floor. On 8'4" models installed 4" up from bottom of hull they should be 5'4" from bottom of hull.

A:
First, you can buy a mounting plate that allows it to be tilted 30 degrees for going into and out of the garage. If that's not enough you can raise and lower it quite a bit with no tools. If that's not enough you can take it completely off easily with no tools.

The Talon has great holding power. I use mine on the Calcasieu and Sabine Rivers in southwest Louisiana. These rivers are affected by tides. When I put my Talon down it holds me firmly in place in heavy current.

Doubt it will hold, way too many rocks on the bottom and it will not penetrate enough to hold you in the current, it will just drag down the river

From my experience with the talon, it did not stop my boat. The spike just drags on the bottom and you cannot drive it in any further.
