Minn Kota® Riptide® ST Saltwater Trolling Motors are built tough to deliver long-lasting dependability and features the effortless stow and deploy system, enhanced CoPilot™, master cut-off switch and optional digitally controlled AutoPilot™.

Stow & Deploy Mechanism
Simply depress the handle and fallaway ramps effortlessly deploy the motor into the water. The balanced motor design makes stowing easy, and a special master cut-off switch automatically turns the power off when stowed.

CoPilot Wireless Remote System
Now standard on all Riptide ST models with added features. Control speed, steering and on/off controls, along with high-speed bypass for instant full power. You can also now activate your AutoPilot from anywhere on the boat - including the platform! (Optional corded foot pedal available - sold separately below.)

Digital Maximizer™
Advanced digital microprocessing controls the draw of power at variable speeds to extend battery life and reduce damaging heat. This advanced technology allows you to get up to five times longer run time on a single charge.

Digitally Controlled AutoPilot™ Steering
Experience the ultimate boat-control advantage with Minn Kota's digitally controlled AutoPilot system. Designed to deliver infinitely variable steering adjustments for smoother course corrections and tighter heading accuracy. Simply point the motor in the direction you want to travel and activate the AutoPilot, and the sophisticated, patented compass keeps you on course. Available on select models

Advanced Corrosion Protection
Premium-grade marine alloys are virtually impervious to rust. Metals undergo a rigid multi-step cleaning process before being anodized or coated with a special zinc dichromate armor plating and finished with a TGIC polyester, powder-coat paint.

Indestructible Composite Shaft
Pound for pound, stronger than stainless steel. Flexes on impact. Will not break, kink or corrode. Guaranteed for life!

Fully Encapsulated Electronics
Control boards are fully encapsulated in marine-grade urethane to permanently seal the circuitry from external elements.

Patented Sacrificial Anode
Protects the motor from galvanic corrosion. Saltwater attacks the zinc anode (discretely located on the prop hub), which can be easily replaced when necessary. The result is better protection and longer motor life.

Optional Foot Pedal
Waterproof, low-profile foot pedal with 18' cord offers precise control. You can activate AutoPilot as well as heel/toe or right/left steering, infinite speed adjustments, and momentary/constant on/off control. Sold separately.

Two-Year Warranty
All Riptide ST bow-mount motors feature a two-year warranty.

copilot trolling motor When minnkota first came out with the copilot I purchased a 55 lb thrust motor. It was a lemon. I thought, OK, new technology, in a few years it'll get worked out. Recently I bought another copilot, an 80 lb thrust motor. It was also a lemon. I've only heard bad news about this copilot version, and even the minnkota warranty service person here in town admits they are lemons, yet the customer service person I talked with at minnkota said she talks with 100 people a day and has never heard about any problems. Interestingly, when I first talked with her about the problem with the "80" she knew exactly what the problem was and then told me the part had to be backordered. No more minnkotas for me due to poor service, bad attitude, and not backing up their product. The $1100 motor I have now is worthless and only 7 months old. July 15, 2007
Wow most amazing I love the new unit all features worked better then I expected. Spot lock and advanced auto pilot are nothing less than amazing. How many times have you dropped ancjhor only to find yourself 10 feet off the spot? Now you can just slide over and do a new spot lock. I bought the ST 80 with I-pilot fctory installed and it keeps my 22' boat in the perfect spot even in 20MPH winds. The front is bouncing in 3 foot waves and I am happy fishing away in the smooth back of the boat. I also have the foot pedal and it work great in conjunction with I-pilot. If yo uhave the money get this unit!! September 26, 2011
Only The Best I replaced my older Minn Kota Riptide Saltwater Trolling Motor, with the Minn Kota Riptide ST Saltwater Trolling Motor about 1 month ago. I called Bass Pro call center with mutable questions, and they answered almost everyone. Right then and there I ordered over the phone, my new trolling motor. It came To my house via, Fed X in only a couple of weeks. I installed it quickly and easily. The next morn I was on the river and using the new trolling motor. I would recommend it to anyone. my best friend I use this trolling the shallows for reds and trout. I can run it from the remote when I am in the back on the poling platform when trying to cover distance quickly. The wireless features have performed better than I expected, and the speed and reliability of the turning motors is exceptional. It has been the envy of many other fisherman in every case. Best buy for me. March 4, 2008

A:
For a 22 ft boat you should choose a motor with at minimum 80lbs of thrust. If you will be in water with a current, or out in other adverse conditions you should consider moving up to the 101lb thrust model.

For your shaft length we recommend measuring for your intended mounting location to the waterline and adding 18 inches. This would be the approximate shaft length you will need.

A:
Not really. In an emergency you could hold the motor up slightly so the stearing dog does not engage and then manually point the engine in the direction you want to go, but this would be clumsy and a lot of work. Hang on tight to the wireless and carry an extra battery.
