Riptide® ST features:
Stow & Deploy Mechanism -- Simply depress the handle and fallaway ramps effortlessly deploy the motor into the water. The balanced motor design makes stowing easy, and a special master cut-off switch automatically turns the power off when stowed.
CoPilot™ Wireless Remote System -- Now standard with added features. Control speed, steering, and on/off controls, along with high-speed bypass for instant full power. You can also now activate your AutoPilot™ from anywhere on the boat—including the platform! (Optional corded foot pedal sold separately.)
Digital Maximizer™ -- Advanced digital microprocessing controls the draw of power at variable speeds to extend battery life and reduce damaging heat. This advanced technology allows you to get up to five times longer run time on a single charge.
Advanced Corrosion Protection -- Premium-grade marine alloys are virtually impervious to rust. Metals undergo a rigid multi-step cleaning process before being anodized or coated with a special zinc dichromate armor plating and finished with a TGIC polyester, powder-coat paint.
iPilot™ features:
Record a Track:
Simply push the Record button and fish along your desired course. i-Pilot will store that track to memory—now up to six separate tracks. When
you want to retrace a course, i-Pilot’s Playback functions will automatically guide your boat down the track.
Spot-Lock:
Works like an electronic anchor. Choose up to six separate spots to remember and at the push of a button it will hold you in place. Spot-Lock Recall lets you return to that spot later.
CoPilot™ and Cruise Control:
Select and maintain a consistent speed for optimum bait presentation with cruise control, and use the legendary speed and steering functions
of CoPilot™ to precisely control your boat.
Advanced CoPilot:
Uses GPS to take you exactly to the point you select, not just the bearing you choose. It’s the difference between a compass and a GPS unit. Just point the motor in the direction you want to travel, push a button and let it take you there with GPS accuracy while compensating for wind, waves, current, and drift.

I like the ability to use either the remote or optional foot pedal and having them work in unison in a great feature. Typical Minn Kota quality and reliable operation. The anchor lock feature is both it's greatest and 'in need of improvement' feature. I use it when launching my boat by myself. You can put the trolling motor down after launching and put yourself off on the shore. Just tell the boat to anchor itself a few yards offshore and it holds it position while you go park. Simply use the remote to have it come retrieve you. It's great! On the downside when using the anchor lock out on the water it sometimes gets confused on it's rotation cycles when trying to stay in the GPS circle. The motor will let the cord wrap around itself on the motor shaft by turning the same way too much. The unit should know how far it has turned and know to go back the other way to accomplish the desired movement. Other than that it is a super unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by jdbx22 great motor
Love the new rip tide. everything works as advertised.
The remote allows you to control the boat from anywhere on the deck. Works up to at least 100 ft away. ( in the yard ). I wasnt real happy with the way you stow and release the motor. You must get right on the edge of the boat to release. A little tricky in choppy water. That said, I still love the motor. It allows me to work anywhere on the boat and still stay in control of it....

Rated 4 out of 5 by dogdog Very Cool Tool
This is one device that will truly change the character of your boat and how you fish. It does everything as advertised. Set the heading, set the speed... and just fish, or sit down, or change out lures, whatever. Spotlock is so cool that you will want to take videos of it working.
There is one issue that I have not resolved and that is how hard it is to deploy and stow this unit. Its a real bear to get the motor to clear the cradle going out, and coming up takes a real hard pull to get back in the cradle. Lots of complaints (and a few suggestions) about this online, hopefully we will find a cure. But the thing works so good this is not a deal breaker.

What a great toy/tool! I bought my riptide and I pilot separately and installed myself. Instructions were great but getting it altogether is better. I have had mine for a year. I use the spotlock the most. So nice to not have to drop an anchor and if you need to move you just hit the remote control from anywhere in the boat. Fishing near a structure and catch a big fish, just tap the remote and let the troll motor move you away to get the fish away from the struture. I use auto pilot with cruise control to run me down the middle of a canal while I throw my cast net or to cruise a shoreline and cast a line. Have not even used the tracking yet but I'm sure I will soon. This review would not be complete without mentioning that Bass Pro really stood up and helped when I had a problem. If there is a shortcoming at this point, it is that it only comes with 55 lbs thrust. I bet that will change soon. I have heard stories of the storing system not holding in place in rough seas. I promise that if you follow instructions for installation you will have no problems.

Not all Minn Kota motors have built in transducers. Minn Kota refers to this feature as Univeral Sonar 2. US2 is available on select models of the Minn Kota Fortrex, the PowerDrive V2 and the Terrova. I am considering purchasing the Minn Kota I-Pilot Riptide ST 80 – 60” Shaft Motor, would this be an adequate motor and shaft length for a MayCraft 1800CC Skiff? What is the correct item# for a white Minn Kota Composite Quick-Release Bracket that would be appropriate for this trolling motor?
Answers
A:
It should be plenty for that boat. I use it on a 22 foot bay boat and it has the needed thrust. The 54" shaft should be enough unless your bow sticks very high up out of the water. Not sure about the quick release bracket. Sorry.A:
In order to determine the correct shaft length for your boat you will want to measure your boat when it is fully loaded with gear and people for a regular day of fishing. Measure from intended mounting location (transom or bow) to the waterline of the loaded boat. Then add 18 inches. That's the shaft length you are looking for.The correct item number for the Minn Kota® Composite Quick-Release Trolling Motor Mounting Bracket is 38-523-772-00.

The ST features the power assist motor deploy, while the SP is a manual deploy lever. Also, the controls of the ST in the foot pedal have more features than in the SP model, however, with both models now being able to handle the i-Pilot system, they are very compareable in performance.1 of 1
