Minn Kota® Riptide® ST Saltwater Trolling Motors are built tough to deliver long-lasting dependability and features the effortless stow and deploy system, enhanced CoPilot™, master cut-off switch and optional digitally controlled AutoPilot™.

Stow & Deploy Mechanism
Simply depress the handle and fallaway ramps effortlessly deploy the motor into the water. The balanced motor design makes stowing easy, and a special master cut-off switch automatically turns the power off when stowed.

CoPilot Wireless Remote System
Now standard on all Riptide ST models with added features. Control speed, steering and on/off controls, along with high-speed bypass for instant full power. You can also now activate your AutoPilot from anywhere on the boat - including the platform! (Optional corded foot pedal available - sold separately below.)

Digital Maximizer™
Advanced digital microprocessing controls the draw of power at variable speeds to extend battery life and reduce damaging heat. This advanced technology allows you to get up to five times longer run time on a single charge.

Digitally Controlled AutoPilot™ Steering
Experience the ultimate boat-control advantage with Minn Kota's digitally controlled AutoPilot system. Designed to deliver infinitely variable steering adjustments for smoother course corrections and tighter heading accuracy. Simply point the motor in the direction you want to travel and activate the AutoPilot, and the sophisticated, patented compass keeps you on course. Available on select models

Advanced Corrosion Protection
Premium-grade marine alloys are virtually impervious to rust. Metals undergo a rigid multi-step cleaning process before being anodized or coated with a special zinc dichromate armor plating and finished with a TGIC polyester, powder-coat paint.

Indestructible Composite Shaft
Pound for pound, stronger than stainless steel. Flexes on impact. Will not break, kink or corrode. Guaranteed for life!

Fully Encapsulated Electronics
Control boards are fully encapsulated in marine-grade urethane to permanently seal the circuitry from external elements.

Patented Sacrificial Anode
Protects the motor from galvanic corrosion. Saltwater attacks the zinc anode (discretely located on the prop hub), which can be easily replaced when necessary. The result is better protection and longer motor life.

Optional Foot Pedal
Waterproof, low-profile foot pedal with 18' cord offers precise control. You can activate AutoPilot as well as heel/toe or right/left steering, infinite speed adjustments, and momentary/constant on/off control. Sold separately.

Two-Year Warranty
All Riptide ST bow-mount motors feature a two-year warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wow most amazing I love the new unit all features worked better then I expected. Spot lock and advanced auto pilot are nothing less than amazing. How many times have you dropped ancjhor only to find yourself 10 feet off the spot? Now you can just slide over and do a new spot lock. I bought the ST 80 with I-pilot fctory installed and it keeps my 22' boat in the perfect spot even in 20MPH winds. The front is bouncing in 3 foot waves and I am happy fishing away in the smooth back of the boat. I also have the foot pedal and it work great in conjunction with I-pilot. If yo uhave the money get this unit!! September 26, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fun to Use This unit makes plugging for black bass a real kick. I can click the record button and cruse along my fishing route at about 10 mph, using the trolling motor and/or the main engine. Then I tell it to backtrack and it re-traces my route backwards or forwards at any speed I choose. I can stop or even stear the boat in to shore to retrieve a hung lure, and then just click one button and it goes back to my route and follows it. This means I can spend most of my time fishing from the exact distance from shore I wish to be. The unit's accuracy seems very good in light wind. I have a lighter duty unit than the factory recommends for my big boat, but it works well in winds up to maybe 5mph. As the winds get heavier, I have to choose sheltered areas or areas with a tail wind. This is fine for me, but would probably not be acceptable to a professional bass fisherman. The unit has an anchor feature that seemed to hold the boat within maybe 20 feet of target in a 10 mph variable wind. This is probably better than I could do manually. The unit deploys and stows easily. For electrical use, I bought the 12V unit. My I/O engine alternator is able to run the unit at full speed and still charge the battery. I have not tried running the unit for a long time without my main engine running, so I don't know how long the unit will run on a single charge. I suspect that at lower speeds the battery will last for at least a few hours and still start my main engine. ( I carry an emergency battery just in case.) June 14, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by cool tool This is great. Love the I-pilot (although did have to buy separately and add on to get a 60" shaft in saltwater) . Auto pilot and Anchor mode are super when you're having to rig up. The only thing I don't like is the remote is kind of large and hard to manipulate the speed control keys and there is no foot pedal available. March 1, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Smooth and powerful The 80 pound thrust Riptide ST with 60" shaft propels and controls my 21 foot deep V fiberglass 2500 pound vessel even offshore! Quiet but powerful with smooth transitions between commands given on co-pilot. November 19, 2010

A:
For a 22 ft boat you should choose a motor with at minimum 80lbs of thrust. If you will be in water with a current, or out in other adverse conditions you should consider moving up to the 101lb thrust model.

For your shaft length we recommend measuring for your intended mounting location to the waterline and adding 18 inches. This would be the approximate shaft length you will need.

A:
Not really. In an emergency you could hold the motor up slightly so the stearing dog does not engage and then manually point the engine in the direction you want to go, but this would be clumsy and a lot of work. Hang on tight to the wireless and carry an extra battery.
