bad purchase I purchased one of these motors ,drove over 70 miles to fish and the motor worked 15 minutes and quit. This was the first time out with it. I thought well you get a lemon some time . Carried it back to B/p and ordered another motor . I fished a whole day with this motor and loved it. The next day i returned to the lake fished about 1 hour and this motor quit.B/P took this motor back. Minn kota has a problem with this motor. April 23, 2012
Riptide 55 lb thrust The motor turns slowly, even on high speed. They only make one prop size so there is no way to gain speed or thrust. MinnKota admits they do not make the motor to turn high RPM's. It will not move a 17' boat in a slight breeze or current making it useless for salt water. The 55 lb thrust rating is very debatable as I have had 40 lb thrust motors that have much more power. I would not reccommend this motor for anything other than an awkward anchor. January 31, 2012
