  • Terrova Trolling Motor's Deploy-Assist Lever
  • Digital Maximizer™ Technology
  • iPilot Record a Track
  • iPilot Spot-Lock
  • CoPilot™ and Cruise Control
  • Advanced CoPilot
All the great features of the Minn Kota PowerDrive V2 Bow Mount Trolling Motor with a factory-installed Minn Kota i-Pilot Wireless GPS Trolling System. The revolutionary i-Pilot uses GPS technology to store and retrieve locations and paths on the water. Its intuitive features—including CoPilot wireless functions—navigate and position your boat for you, improve your bait presentation, and let you focus on fishing.

Minn Kota PowerDrive V2 Bow-Mount Trolling Motors:
Deploy-Assist Lever
Puts you in motion and in pursuit of fish, quickly and easily. Simply depress the lever to deploy the motor and you're ready to go. When it's time to move, it stows easily and securely -- ready for action again as soon as you are.
Digital Maximizer Technology
Up to five times longer run time on a single charge. By controlling the draw of power at variable speeds, Digital Maximizer eliminates wasted energy, extends battery life, and gives you more time on the water.

Universal Sonar 2:
Dual-beam capability (with all Humminbird® DualBeam PLUS™ and select Lowrance® and Garmin® units) provides expanded coverage and greater bottom detail at 83 kHz and 200 kHz.  Temperature-sensing compatibility with all major sonar brands. Integrated, concealed transducer is protected from the elements.

iPilot features:
Record a Track:
Simply push the Record button and fish along your desired course. i-Pilot will store that track to memory—now up to six separate tracks. When you want to retrace a course, i-Pilot’s Playback functions will automatically guide your boat down the track.
Spot-Lock:
Works like an electronic anchor. Choose up to six separate spots to remember and at the push of a button it will hold you in place. Spot-Lock Recall lets you return to that spot later.
CoPilot and Cruise Control:
Select and maintain a consistent speed for optimum bait presentation with cruise control, and use the legendary speed and steering functions of CoPilot to precisely control your boat.
Advanced CoPilot:
Uses GPS to take you exactly to the point you select, not just the bearing you choose. It’s the difference between a compass and a GPS unit. Just point the motor in the direction you want to travel, push a button and let it take you there with GPS accuracy while compensating for wind, waves, current, and drift.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by very good trolling motor Happy as can be with the V2 with ipilot. Controls the boat in wind and current with no problems. Wished I had bought sooner but price kind of put it in the back burner. If I had known how good it was I would have done it sooner. March 8, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Motor - No foot control This is a great trolling motor and the spot lock feature is awesome. No more messing with anchors and I can lock into position at any depth. The biggest issue that arose with this trolling motor is they made it not compatible for a foot control. The remote is great if you are not casting, but if I am trying to work a shoreline and cast for bass this becomes the worst buying decision I ever made. Minn Kota does not offer the remote and the foot control to work simultaneously with the i-pilot, and they do not make an option to install one on this. You have to buy a Terrova. If you do any casting while using this trolling motor, this motor deserves 1 star. I gave it 4 hear because I should have researched that more before buying it, but they do not make it clear that it will not be compatible with a foot control if you have the i-pilot on the power drive. Rated 5 out of 5 by works Oke!! just bought this motor and took it out on Lake Ontario.. works excellent!! i got the 70lb thrust with 54 " shaft on a 17'6" Aluminum boat. trolls very well ..surprisingly its very responsive and uses almost no power to move this craft ..compared to foot operated models...i will never go back.. best part ... NO Foot Pedal!! point this thing in the direction you want to go and it takes you there .. against wind and waves .. leaving you hands and feet free to do other things like baiting hooks enjoying the sites... and the other features are fantastic too!! well done Minn Kotta!!! i give this a 5 star and a 10 out of ten.. Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome I bought the 55 pound thrust power drive V2 with the I-pilot. Just had it out and this thing is amazing. Plenty of power for my 16 foot Lund. I bought it mainly for the spot lock feature. Fishing along the lake shore in breasy conditions always had me working my old Minn Kota transom mount motor to keep the boat off land and from blowing away from the coast. Now I put the boat where I want to fish and hit the spot lock and it will keep you within 5 feet of your spot and now I can fish insteard of messing with the trolling motor. What a great day of fishing although my wife caught 20 fish to my 5, I can't blame it on working the trolling motor, I was able to fish as much as her. Great value, easy to install and now I fish instead of working the trolling motor. May 6, 2012

Details:
I bought this item to replace a 2008 Motor Guide FW-GP 54 lb thrust with five forward speeds and three reverse speeds.

This unit at top power of 10 seems to be about the same speed as my old unit on two power. This is slow. Am I comparing apples to apples? My new unit is a 55 lb thrust unit.

55 lbs of thrust is the minimum recommended pounds of thrust for an 18' boat. If you'll be fishing in rough water, or if your boat weight is over 2,500 lbs you will want to move up a level higher.

This motor is a variable speed so it does not have preset speed options. Variable speed motors allow you to “dial in” to the perfect speed.

There is a hand held remote that controls all funtions. You can get a wireless foot control for just under $100.00. How convient is that no wires, can put it anywhere in the boat.

A:
I believe the only way to steer the PowerDrive (PD) with i-pilot is by using the handheld remote.

I've been debating whether to buy the PD or Terrova with i-pilot. The PD is more in my price range, but the fact that a footpad is NOT included is a negative for the way I fish.

You could purchase the PD w/out i-pilot which would give you the footpad and then buy and install the i-pilot yourself. However, I believe that when the i-pilot is "activated", it renders the footpad useless.

It would be nice to get some feedback from PD owners that have purchased the i-pilot and installed themselves.
