Rated 5 out of 5 by Minn Kota EDGE 65/45 Purchased motor from local BPS b/c of the great deal they had on the unit. Went in to store to purchase the new Motorguide X3 55/42 but after comparing the price and extra thrust from the 65lb motor I walked out with the Minn Kota 65/45. Glad I did! Rigged it up the next day on my small 17ft bass boat. Previously had an old model 12V 43lb Motorguide on it...was worried about having to drill more holes in boat but when I started rigging it up the existing holes LINED UP PERFECTLY!!! No additional holes I thought I was going to have to drill. The Minn Kota mount has several holes pre-drilled into it for numerous possibilities making it almost universal to any trolling motor or existing mounts. MADE MY DAY! I also was worried the jump from a old 12v 43lb thrust motor to a 24v 65lb thrust motor might be too much kick but it has been perfect! I run it on speed 2 of 5 speeds and is perfect! Glad I went with it. Fished 9 hour tournament on 4/12/14 on various speeds with 8mph wind and flood gates open and no signs of battery drain. Everything is positive so far! The 'weed less' prop they advertise is truly great...tested it through some very thick grasses and chopped them up like a weed eater! Instructions included very informative. April 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Motor I purchased this motor to replace my Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 on my 16ft bass boat. . I don't like the way the V2 deploys in the water. I fished this new motor for two days (about 13 hours) and motor worked great. Motor performed well with no battery charge in between. This 24 volt system is much better than my old 12v. Motor seems solid and had zero issues. Pulls the boat around easily on low speed. The down side to the motor: The mounting screws seemed cheap and stripped out easily. Also I assumed that it would come with enough wire to run back to the batteries. It doesn't. Comes with about 3 feet of wire. Not a big deal since this was replacing another trolling motor, the wire was already run. If this was just a first motor for the boat, it would be annoying if I would have had to run out and get more wiring. Over all good motor and would recommend. I ordered the motor online and has it shipped to the local BPS for free. Picked up up three days later. April 11, 2014

A:
Highly doubt it...shaft length (45 inches) probably wouldn't be long enough for a pontoon.

A:
I don't see why not. I'm no pontoon expert but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

A:
No, this would not mount on the pontoon boat, you would need one that is especially made for the pontoon or you would need to have one of the new remote control motors. We have the two Minn-Kota pontoon motors, sku 1854900 55# thrust 52" shaft or the sku 1854901 70# thrust 52" shaft.
