There were a couple of other options available for a quick release bracket, however, I choose the expensive option because it seemed built better -- with less moving parts. The bracket uses a pull release with a cotta key, rather then a bolted wing nut -- that because it has to screw-in and out, seems it may have a tendency to strip-out or get lost very easily. Not so with this bracket. Even if the cotta key were to get lost (only removable part) it can work and anything that will fit through the hole will lock the bracket/trolling motor in place, and with less moving parts, it seems the best option for years of use.

Really easy to use. Moderatly easy to install. Great buy. I use my boat for fishing and duck hunting and having the ability to remove the trolling motor in less than 30 seconds makes the investment well worth it.

This mounting bracket is the perfect answer to protecting and storing your trolling motor.
I don't like my trolling motor sticking out in front of the boat as a temptation for theft.
I also like to store the motor out of the elements since it can get pretty hot here especially with the boat cover on.
This bracket was easy to install (includes all bolts and instructions) and I can remove or replace the motor in 30 seconds.
Also allows you to put a lock on. Don't forget you will need a plug and socket connector for the trolling motor. Bass Pro Shops has some good ones.
Somewhere I read that this bracket leaves a flat space.
This is NOT true. After you remove the motor, there is a 1" high 4" X 12" mounting plate left. It is not flush but for me this works fine. Just wanted to mention this little unclear detail.
