I can not tell you how well my radio work, because it will not pick anything up. When I purchased the radio I was not aware that they had trouble receiving the information sent by NOAA. When I contacted Midland I was told that I should purchase and external antenna and my problems would be solved. Wish I knew that when I bought it. It looks good sitting on the end table- just wish it worked!!!!

We have infrequent severe weather, but still felt it would be beneficial to be prepared. Four days after programing the radio, the warning sounded for a weather emergency, and we had 10 inches of snow. This was in mid April, after 80 degree weather. Would recommend this item. It is inexpensive and could easily save lives. Efficient.

Great little radio. Automatically alerts you, once the channel is set, to alerts, in your area. And, at a press of a button, at anytime, you can get a voice weather update. Operates AC to save batteries, but, has AA batts on board, if AC fails. Also has an alert LED, to let you know something is up, if you were out of the house when an alert was received. Then, just hitting the "weather bar", you get an instant voice update as to what the alert is and what to do, or not do.
It works great and operates off of NOAA freq. in your area so there are no further fees, for this vital free 24/7 all hazards/weather service.
