I have had these for just a few weeks and have worn them while doing daily training with my K-9 Unit Partner in some snowy wet Colorado weather. So far I can report that the break in period was easy and they began to feel very comfortable after a 3 mile easy hike at a fast march. Ankle and Metatarsal support are very good with a very nice foot bed. For a solid leather lower these boots breath well and do not create overheating. They are proving to be comfortably warm during light, moderate and heavy use in current Colorado temperatures of 20 - 55 degrees however I will mention I have a high tolerances for cold and heat. Protective toe wrap and aggressive lug pattern are providing good traction and protection while being dragged around by a 90lb German Shepherd patrol dog.
So far I will endorse these for a comfortable, dry, well built casual hiker or light work boot. Style is great and I anticipate I will be wearing these well through the spring months and into the summer months in the high country.
My past experience with several Merrell products has been above average with the only weak area to be the sole or toe wrap coming loose from normal to heavy use. Construction of foot bed an uppers has always remained high and keeps me coming back to their product line. I am hoping the toe wrap and toe sole issue has been addressed and corrected with these hikers as I spend a lot of time kneeling down and low crawling while working out and training with my K-9.
Stay tuned for updates

Rated 5 out of 5 by Carpenter Well worth the money
My first pair of Phaser Peak boots I bought in the summer of 2006 I built houses and wore them every day doing concrete and carpenter work until the summer of 2010 when I bought the pair I have now.I still have the old pair and have used them for fishing and wading the river the past 2 years. They feel great strait out of the box and can take all you want to put them through, you can't go wrong with these boots.
