Merrell® Moab Ventilator Waterproof Multi-Sport Mid Hikers for Men
Great while they lasted.
Got these boots in June. I went in hoping to get a pair of Keens, but they didn't have any in stock, so I tried some other hikers. They seemed phenomenal - great fit (including a wide size, which was appreciated), and lighter even than the low-top hikers. I wore them to the office a few times to break them in a bit, and then wore them out in the field. The good news is that they were comfortable and completely waterproof. The bad news is that, when they got muddy (I live in Northwest Ohio, it's swampy here), the sole started falling apart. I discovered that the outermost molded part of the heel on one of the shoes was already coming loose. Not a small deal. $120 boots should hold up past their first use in the field.
I should note that this isn't the first time I've had durability issues with Merrell Moabs. I had a low-top pair several years ago that lasted longer than these, but still started falling apart before a year was up. By the same token, I've got a pair of Mountain Kicks that I wear for day to day use that are my favorite casual shoes. So maybe the solution is to stop buying Merrell hiking shoes and just buy their casual stuff.
Long story short, these fell apart the first time I wore them in the field. Thank god for Bass Pro's excellent return policy.

I had been trying on less expensive boots and had never heard of Merrell before. I wasn't happy with the choices in the lesser priced shoes and thought I'd just try on a pair of Merrells since one of them on display suited the styles I like. I was very surprised with how much more comfortable these were compared to the lesser priced boots. Additionally, this pair of Merrell's were much lighter than other boots that I own.

These are great hikers, very comfortable, waterproof. I wear them as everyday shoes and love them.

I am 60 yrs old and these are the best shoes/boots I have ever owned. They are light and extremely comfortable. I wish I had found these years ago.
