Rated 3 out of 5Â by sierrafishing Doesn't perform as good as other Mepps products
I have used many Mepps products over the years and generally have very good results. I have yet to catch anything with this particular lure though. It does run deeper relative to the retrieve speed but I have had trouble with the blade not spinning which is likely the reason for not catching anything on it. It is of the usual Mepps quality but I will stick to the old Mepps standard fish catchers such as the Aglia and Black Fury.

Mepps XD lures size O and 1 are real Trout attractors.
I use Gold/Dold and have caught my limit in an hour or two several times.
I strongly recommend these lures.

I use in-line spinners almost exclusively for trout! I use these, blue fox and panther martins! I find that the mepps extra deep spinner works well when casting to the bank, from the middle of a stream when wadding! They sink faster than and follow the bottom of the steam better panther martins and Blue fox. If I fish shallower water, I will use the blue fox spinner! If I need to go mid depth I use Panther martins. But if I need to go to the bottom of a pool or from the bank fast where the trout are, I use the mepps extra deep! In my area the brookies seem to like the the silver, gold and pink body, silver blade. Give these a try, they work well!
Good fishing!
Tight lines and be safe!

This spinner performed excellent for small brookies. I tried few retrieve speeds, but the fastest speed worked the best. In 20 mins I caught two small brookies 4-6 inches.
This spinner didnt work for lake trout at least this summer.

I used "firetiger" color. This was only one that worked. Good luck !Top 25 Contributor

I use the pink body, silver blade! It seems to be the best color for the brook trout I tend to chase around! But it also depends on the day,if it's sunny try using the gold, silver, and on cloudy days or low light, try using the red, black, the rainbow trout pattern seems to work well also, but my favorite one is the pink and silver!A:Â
i would go with a red or blue spinner.if it is sunny use the red.1 of 1
