  • Great early-season musky bait
  • Also excellent in warm water
  • Proven inline spinner action
The Mepps Musky Killer is a great early-season musky lure. Musky season opens early on many shallow northern musky lakes, and fishing these cold waters can be the key to early season action. A slow presentation is needed. Fish shallow bays and large flats of weeds early in the season with a Mepps Musky Killer. It's also an excellent warm water spinner for fishing over weeds with a rapid retrieve.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Okay Lure I recommend just getting a mepps 5. Just as effective but smaller hook. Makes it easier to get the fish off the hook. December 16, 2007
Rated 5 out of 5 by Scooter This is my favorite Musky Buck Tail. It's not too heavy to cast all day(won't wear your arm out)and still can catch a BIG one"50 +icnch" August 17, 2007
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pike killer too This bait ripped over weeds in summertime is a great way to catch big pike. It also catches big largemouth bass. I sometimes throw them in the spring for prespawn bass. It gives them a little something different to look at besides the traditional spinnerbaits that most guys are throwing. November 9, 2006
Rated 5 out of 5 by mepps musky killer This lure is KILLER for early and late season BIG BASS and pickeral as well as pike and musky. It has become my go to lure for bass under these conditions! November 1, 2006

these are great baits to use and the bite is fantastic.
There is no such thing as the best color Muskies are very finicky. It's always good to have several color combo's when you go out. Clear water bright sun dark color with polished blades. Over cast days or stained water bright colors painted blades. That's a good rule to go buy. But even that's not written in stone. That's why its good to have a decent selection!

Black with the red tail is wonderful. Also, I've had great success with Firetiger...don't know why because it doesn't look like anything that swims, but big bass and pike attack Firetiger.
