This was an upgrade to our charcoal smoker - did a great job of holding the temp steady - ribs and a brisket turned out great! Love the sliding trays - next time will add a bit more water to the pan though - it dried out a bit quicker than we were used to.

I have had no problems with this smoker. I bought the larger size and it smokes beef, pork and fish beautifully. I actually converted my smoker to natural gas this spring and the smoking performance is unchanged. I use it every week. I highly recommend this product. One improvement Masterbuilt should consider, add another door latch on the upper door. Two instead of one.

I got this smoker last summer and worked OK 3 or 4 times. Then the flame became yellow and sooty and flames started to shoot out the front near the control knob. Now before each use the unit must be disassembled and the burner blown out with a high pressure compressor. If you forget to blow out the burner your meat will be ruined, all sooty and nasty tasting. I know 3 other people with the same unit and they ALL have the same trouble. This indicates to me a 100% failure rate!!!
