I bought this 2/21/2014 for my brother's birthday. He's been using a 30 year old Lil Chief Top Loader electric smoker for always doing his smoked salmon. Same weekend he got we smoked lots of salmon
Filets, due to the much roomier space accommodations to the new smoker. What took him 12 hours to do in the old non insulated smoker, now only takes 4 hours. This new MasterBuilt smoker comes already insulated. And my brother loves the digital controls, which you preset the temperature and timeframe. Walk away and let the smoker do it's job. Since our first time smoking salmon with this new smoker, he had used it three more times, and it's only been 3 weeks since he first got it. My brother wants to now do a smoked turkey.
Going to buy one for myself.

As a novice smoker, I have a little experience curing, none at smokin'. I would recommend this package. Ordered a Cold Smoker attachment this week.
First smokin' experience was good. Pork loin, hickory, ok. 2nd, chicken, apple, not so good. U can go from there... I have read so many comments on forums, my head is spinning.... I been "hog" huntin' this week, so I guess my experience has been satisfying .... more to come MTC.

My local store did not have this smoker so I ordered it on-line. Delivery was fast. I would suggest having a cordless driver to run the screws thru the feet. I think some of the insulation material gets into the threads and makes hand turning very difficult. One month in and I smoked a pork loin roast (very good), salmon (yummy), pork ribs(un-believably awesome), and finally a brisket (WOW!). Next up is pork butt. I am hooked. Cleanup is easy, and temp/time control seems accurate. The only negative is that I have a day job and cannot use the smoker everyday.

This is my 3rd smoker over the past 10 yrs each time I have stepped up and this unit is all that it is listed to be.
The 1st weekend I smoked a 20 lb turkey , 2 racks of spare ribs followed up with 2 briskets ! All were great.
A word of caution do not fill the water tray above the high water line , the juices will drain back into the tray reducing the amount of water required this along with the heavy rubber door seal with a adjustable latch will insure that your food will not dry out.
If I had to fine any thing to be lightly concerned about it would be that the racks seem to be a little on the light or thin side , I hope that they can hold up over the long haul,
Next on my list is a pork loin I expect it will be great as well.
One last thing watch the internal temperature I did cook every thing faster then my other smokers had.
