Rated 1 out of 5 by Grizzly58 Not worth the money Bought in July of 2012 and have used three times. The unit has rusted terribly, has a very poor design on drain tray and doesn't produce much smoke so it is close to a cheap electric oven. They have a already had a redesign on the chip tray that had to be replaced. Multiple calls have not been answered from the manufacturer. I owned a previous model and used it until it wore out over the last 6 to 7 years so I do have a reference point to just say they cheaped out when building December 30, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by StobDonkey First one didn't work The first time I plugged in the smoker to cure it, it would not come on. Being an electrician, I dug into it a little bit to see if I could fix it. Turned out, there was a power supply board in the bottom of the smoker that was badly broken, looked like it was caused by overtightening of the mounting screws when it was assembled. I contacted Masterbuilt and they suggested taking it back to Bass Pro. I did and they took it back no questions asked even though I purchased it online. The new one works great and I am very pleased with it. I would have given it 5 stars if were not for the hassle of returning the first one because of the damage. December 10, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by srod DOA I purchased on Black Friday. Got it put together and it was did not turn on when I plugged it in. Called Customer Service and they send a new controller. got it installed and it is still does not work. I am sure glad that Brass Pro has a good return policy. Going to exchange it tomorrow. Rated 4 out of 5 by Humusbcool Good but not Perfect After reading a number of reviews about the unit on this and other sites I bought one during Bass Pro's Black Friday sale for a much more reasonable price. The unit takes about 30 minutes to assemble and should be "cured" for 3 hours before first use. Don't plan on bringing it home and using it right away. Smoking with it is as easy as it gets, set the temp and time, fill with meat and your favorite wood chips and relax. My meat probe appears to be about 5 degrees off so check your first dish or two with a meat therometer to know how your smoker reads. The meat probe is reason I marked this unit down. The long lead to the probe hangs down and always seems to be in the way. Sure wish the probe could be removed when you didn't want to use it and for cleaning. Cleaning takes a little time and the removal of a half dozen or so parts. The use of a non-stick spray on the drip pan etc will help a lot. There are a couple of semi-sharp edges so be a little careful with these pieces. This is the other reason for the loss of a star. Would I buy another one knowing what I know now? At the Black Friday price - YES!! At the Bass Pro listed price - I'm not so sure. November 25, 2012

A:It has the same size chip tray as the previous model. I found the chips last a lot longer if you soak them in water for an hour or so before using them.
Details:Can you please verify if the unit is 720 square inches of cooking area or 640 square inches? The description says 720 but on the right where the price is, it says 640.
