The oldest shoulder firearm design still being made anywhere, the Marlin 39A Rifle is the result of decades of real world testing and improvements.  Featuring the same flat-top, side-ejecting receiver that made it stand out in 1889, this rifle also features Marlin's ultra-accurate Micro-Groove® rifling. This special rifling produces less bullet distortion and a better gas seal, allowing the 39A to deliver tiny groups most other 22s can't touch. Unique design disassembles in seconds with a coin for easy cleaning. Delivering dependability, pinpoint accuracy and good looks, the 39A surrounds its 24'' steel barrel with a checkered American black walnut pistol-grip stock and fore-end for that traditional lever action feel. Hammer-block safety. The gun's solid-top receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts.  Adjustable rear and bead front sights.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Be careful First, be careful what you read for a review here or anywhere on line! Because you got a good Marlin 39A thirty years ago has nothing to do with today! I have mixed feelings about my 39A. Wood is nice but finish was very poor. I actually removed and refinished the front of stock myself to get a better match. Lever pivot screw broke after 1,500 rounds and needed to be replaced. Occasional failure to ejects. Rifle does look good overall, very accurate, very good barrel and fun to shoot. I would say if you buy a new 39A try and inspect it first and get to shoot it. May 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by 39A IS AWSOME I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY MARLIN 39A. I BOUGHT MY 39A IN THE MID 1980'S I AM ABLE TO SHOOT 2" GROUPS CONSISTENLY AT 200 YARDS. I AM NOT A HUNTER, HOWEVER LIKE TO TARGET SHOOT, AND WHEN I LIVED IN CALIFORNIA WOULD GO OUT TO THE DESERT AND POINT SHOOT. I NEVER MISS WITH MY 39A. THE GUN IS FLAWLESS, EASY TO HANDLE, BREAKDOWN AND CLEAN. IT FITS LIKE A GLOVE. I WOULD NOT CONSIDER PURCHASING ANY OTHER BRAND LEVER ACTION RIFLE. April 2, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very happy with gun I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews about buying the Marlin 39a. I have had no problems with mine. I have levered it fast, slow and anywhere in between and it worked great. The trigger is a little heavy so accuracy suffered some. I hope that gets better after it gets used more. I don't hunt anymore, just shoot target. I am a old western movie fan and this gun is fun to shoot. September 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great service from Marlin and Bass Pro Shops I purchased a Marlin 39a from Bass Pro Shops in June 2011. I had to send the rifle back 6 times before Marlin sent me a new 39a. The new 39a works flawlessly and is very accurate. Marlin was very easy to deal with and their customer support is very good. Even after a year of owning the 39a, Marlin was there to help me. Each of the six times I sent the Marlin back Bass Pro Shops was very helpful with taking care of the shipping process – they even took care of the shipping cost for me. I didn’t have to pay anything to return the 39a! If I ever want another lever gun, it will be a Marlin and I’ll buy it from Bass Pro Shops. July 30, 2012
