Perfect deer rifle My father killed his 1st deer with this gun in 1962. He gave it to me in 1972 and I have hunted with it every season since. When my son was old enough to hunt, I bought one for him and he dropped a buck the first time he went deer hunting. It's simple, safe, accurate, perfect for hunting in heavy cover and for us, part of the family. September 12, 2012
shoots great-kicks like a mule Bought this for my grandson. I have used a marlin 30-03 for 30 years, this new one came with scope and sling . A great price too! Shoots great 3"groups at 100 yards, but kicks too much. My 11 year old grandson asked if he could use my old one. The new one kicks so much it scared him away away from pulling the trigger. Truthfully, it kicks too much for me too. I will probably trade it for another gun. April 22, 2012

good gun i dont own one yet but i use my friends and we have killed so many deer with it but we have never droped a deer no matter how good of a shot you make. every time i shoot it it runs about 40 yards. i like it because it gets the job done and the amo is cheep and i like everything about the gun but the knock down power. Good first gun?

I'm looking for a nice deer gun for my first gun that I buy myself and I really like the specs of it and what people have said about it. Would this be a good choice or should I check out some slug guns?
