This is the best gun on the market, it dropped every thing I shot but with very little kick, extremely accurate (I get usually get 250 yards but depends on the shooter) very good in thick brush areas.a very good gun for young shooters.

Granddad gave me this gun to me new in 1973 , with all the round shot never a miss or miss firer . With hand loads 1 in groups at 100 meters .
But with age I did put a scope on her and now 8 in groups at 200 meters , not bad for a 40 year old gun in 30-30!
I have other guns , but granddad said this is all you need , and if you think about it he's right . So thanks Granddad for when I pick up the gun I remember all the time with him , great gun and great company.
The Marlin company are the best, broke off the buck eye sight with a drop call them up , they sent out a new one free of charge , no shipping just free , and that was 5 years ago !
So great gun! great company !!

I have owned this rifle for a year now, and it has never jammed once. I have had some problems feeding the rounds into the magazine, but over all it is an amazing rifle! Great purchase.

My father killed his 1st deer with this gun in 1962. He gave it to me in 1972 and I have hunted with it every season since. When my son was old enough to hunt, I bought one for him and he dropped a buck the first time he went deer hunting. It's simple, safe, accurate, perfect for hunting in heavy cover and for us, part of the family.

it's has a kick but it has some wight to it so that does suppress some of the kick .But you can hand load some light rounds and it will put you right there with .243 .

Recoil on 30-30 is minimal. My young son uses this rifle for deer hunting and he is able to shoot 2 inch groups at 100 yards as a novice shooter.Answers

You cannot go wrong! with this for a sort range gun . I would say good out to 150 meters for a new shooter.So good hunting .
