Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the Design I have owned this gun a while now, and have killed numerous things with it. I shot a 160 pound deer and it traveled only 10 yards before falling. I have also shot many hogs with this gun including some over 180 lbs. This gun is plenty potent at ranges up to 125 yards, but over that my confidence dwindles. But that is not really a short coming of the rifle but of the cartridge. November 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Most favorite rifle I bought my 336 about 2 years ago from Bass Pro. It shoots flat @ 100yd with plain old low end ammo. You put some Hornady through it and and add another 50 to that! Iron sights! When my buddies come out to shoot they ALWAYS ask where it is. A work of art. I would never scope it. No need. Makes me smile everytime I open the case. I have over 200 rounds through it now. Flawless! July 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great american classic rifle I love my new 336c that I got this year. The short length, and lighter weight for still hunting make it an ideal deer rifle, just as it always has been. I use the new Hornaday leverevolution ammo in mine, and it outgroups my Ruger M77 MKII, with sub moa at 100yds. Now with this new ammo, I think many will take another look at these great performing rifle's. The extended shooting range they give you, and extra downrange energy truly make's this a great all around rifle. Low recoil, and fast follow up shot's if needed, and great balance. The new crossbolt safety feature I use when loading and unloading, as that's a nice feature when you have to chamber each round. I use the standard hammer safety only while I'm hunting. My bolt gun is getting dusty. Not the best pic's, but you get the idea. I did a great 3 shot group with a perfect triangle, and all 3 touching at 100yds., and of course the camera was home. A:
This is a knock-down type of rifle. Leave your scope at home. If you want to hunt deer at 200 yards, this might not be what you are looking for. It will stop just about anything at 100yd. I can hit a coffee cup with iron sights at this distance......everyone else who has picked it up has done so also.
