Rated 5 out of 5 by Malin Trident-7 Wire Strands This is some of the leader wire I have ever used. I like to fish for red fish on the NC Coast and use this leader all the time. I use 20 lb test and have caught red drum up to 10 lbs using this leader. I use a figure 8 knot to tie to the barbell swivels and to my hook. The leader is like using 15 lb mono, it’s that flexible. Rated 1 out of 5 by Short Changed Ordered 4 spools of the 1X7 60 lb and each spool was 8 feet short. Bass Pro made good with no problems, however never heard from Malin. July 8, 2010

Rated 5 out of 5 Malin is #1 Malin wire is absolutely the best I have ever used. After some Berkley leader failures I make my own leaders. I've gone through Sevenstrand, American Fishing Wire (AFW), and Malin. After several wire failures (crimps held) by Sevenstrand and AFW I performed my own tests and have found Malin is the best wire available. In dead lift tests, Sevenstrand 1x7 40# blows up at 25-28 pounds, AFW 1x19 46# broke at 35-44 pounds, Malin 1x7 30# held 41, Malin 1x7 40# held 50, and Malin 1x7 60# held over 67 pounds. Malin is #1 by far. Malin 1x7 cable is also the most flexible of these wires, resists kinks, and is durable. Excellent for Pike! November 19, 2008
