Overall it is a well designed kayak. It is a little heavy. It paddles better into the wind because of it's weight.
You can stand in it but it will take some time to get used to feeling comfortable.
The front rod holders could be a little closer...b/c it is a stretch to reach when your looking to change rods real quick.
It is tough to stay seated for more than 4-5 hours with out it hurting your back.
Plenty of Storage.
I would recommend for ponds/lakes and saltwater.
I would not recommend for river fishing.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by BowedUp804 Excellent Fishing Kayak
The Malibu Stealth 12 is an excellent fishing kayak. The stability is unmatched, as is the storage capabilities.I spend hours standing and sight casting for Reds and the casting platform makes that possible. Malibu has designed this boat with the fisherman in mind and it shows. The built in bait well really comes in handy and can double as additional storage or as a cooler.

This has got to be the most comfortablest and stable kayak on the market. you can stand and paddle all day. Great for a begainner, women and children. All kinds of dry stoage and a livewell to boot.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by NCyakfisher Great All Around Fishing Kayak
I spend a ton of time on the water - lakes, ponds, streams, rivers, and inshore. Having a great all around boat is important to me. I have paddled a bunch of different boats and the Stealth 12 stands out above the rest. It is short enough to be easily carried, stored, and maneuver small flowing waters. However, it is still fast, tracks well, and is stable enough to easily be able and stand and fish. At 6', 190 lbs, I have no problem standing and fishing. In fact, during my very first trip in the Stealth I was able to stand and fly fish with no problems. It has great storage, lots of nice features for fishermen, and is lightweight. So far, it has handled class II+ rapids, shallow rocky river stretches, high wind conditions on lakes, pond hopping and everything else thrown at it. You can't go wrong with this boat!

Does this come the standard Malibu seat or do you have to purchase the seat separately?Answers

Comes with Gator HatchDetails:Â
I'm 5'9" and weigh about 220 pounds, also I would like to bring my son, he is about 65 pounds. With the type of fishing I do (bass mainly) I think the 12' would serve my purpose better, but is it big enough for me and for me and my son.Answers

ether one will work expecilly the the gator hatch seat.A:Â
You will be fine in a 12' however you will have A LOT more room in the 14' giving him the option to sit on gator hatch or back in the tankwell. If you are not concerned with the price difference I would go 14' it's worth it.As you can see, this is my little one on the 12' and she loves it, but I also have the 14' and it has been much better giving her the ability to crawl around wherever she likes.

The weight capacity on the Stealth 12 is 450 lbs. With you, your son, and lets say 30 lbs of gear - you would still be over 100 lbs below capacity. The 14 will be more comfortable for the 2 of you because of the additional room and capacity, but the 12 will definitely do the track. And as a kayak fisherman who mainly targets bass (on all types of waters) I would recommend the 12 for the best all around boat.A:Â
The Stealth 12 is a one-person kayak. The max load weight is 450 lbs. ThanksQ:Â

Has Malibu addressed the leaks that have been documented and is only one color avaible thru Bass Pro Shops.
Answers
A:Â
I can't help you about the color... I think it's whatever color BPS has in stock... but the leakage issue has been tremendously fixed. I have a newer model and and older model... I left them outside the other night in one of the worst rain storms we have had in a loooong time. While there was some water int he older model...the new model was bone dry... only some water in the livewell area. The new hatches have a great seal on them. For the people you read about dealing with crazy leakage it's all due to them not properly securing the gator hatch on the front. The bungee that is on the gator hatch has a purpose, it needs to be pulled over the clips on either side of the bow, this creates a tight seal.A:Â
I am not sure about the colors available through BPS, but Malibu made it a point to address the leaking issues. My Stealth 12 has zero issues with leaking and that has included running river rapids and battling 15-20 MPH winds on big lakes. It is now a non-issue.A:Â
At this time, we have not had any issues reported about leaking by other customers. Please refer to Malibu Kayak for further technical assistance by calling (877) 9-KAYAKS. Yes, this is the only color we offer for the Stealth 12. Thanks1 of 1
