Best Lures for Lakes I have used these types of lures for 5 years now and they have been catching without fail. Lake Tanganyika is where I use them and have proven to be the best in my tackle box!!!!! Sometimes they don't swim straight, but with a bit of tweeking of the nose, I get them straight in a second. Very good lure!!!!!!!!!!!! February 21, 2013
best smallmouth crankbait I've been fishing the hotlips for a long time and I always try something new but I always come back to the hotlips, I fish deep resivours for smallmouth and the baby hotlips is the perfect size and tight wiggle and dives deepest for it size compared to other brands I've tryed, add a few suspend spot in early spring to coax the monsters up, firetiger-craw-and rainbow trout are my favorite colors March 27, 2011
A little history One of my best friends, and fishing buddy, was a salesman for Luhr Jensen. Because of this, I was able to test the Hot Lips before it went to market. I love this lure. I fish mostly smallmouth so I use the 1/4 ounce. I have also caught many Steelhead on the bigger lures. The watermellon and Texas red are my favorites for Steelhead . I still have many of the early models that were given to me (free is a very good price). I have lost most of the lures in my favorite colors, so I get the others custom painted. My favorite colors are minnow colored lures and Texas red. At the beginning the lures were all tank tested and ran good out of the box. Later on this step was skipped and many of the lures ran to the side and had to be tuned. After Luhr Jensen sold out to Normark they fired most of their management including the manager of the molding department. After this they started pumping out a bunch of inferior lures. I bought a couple of these, because they were in my favorite colors, and there is no way they can be tuned. On some of the lures the bill is at an angle to the body. Others have bumps on the body. Hopefully Normark (Rapala) gets it right, because when this lure is properly built, it is a great lure. March 8, 2009
