Lucky Craft's Staysee 90 SP is still one of the hottest jerkbaits going on the pro-tournament scene. Top-quality construction combined with ultra-realistic finishes ensures Staysee stays in your arsenal. The Staysee is a true jerkbait designed to creep towards bass and can be fished to 10'. Runs nose-down and suspends on the pause provoking strikes from irritated bass. Unique rattle configuration emits a tempting sound without causing alarm.
Rated 5 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great confidence bait! Used this bait the last two times on the lake. Targeted pre-spawners on points and deep docks. 4 pounder the first day off a dock, 7 pounder the next off a point! Think I'm going to keep this bait tied on year long!! March 19, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 Solid Jerkbait If you are looking for a true suspending jerkbait at deeper depths, this is an excellent choice. March 11, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by worth every cent i don't like to pay the high price for lure's but these lucky craft bait's DO make a difference in strike ratio. the balance and performance right out of the package is amazing. i caught bass for year's on the smithwick bait's similar to the staysee's. i finally purchased 4 of staysee's and have never used another lure brand when using the suspending minnow"s. when bass are hitting shad or baitfish in cold, clear water, this is the lure to use. color is a matter of personal preferrence but the chartruese shad is my go-to color. if you decide to invest in some of these great lure's, buy 3 or 4, you will not regret it. striper's will also smash these , BIG STRIPER'S! May 30, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by outstanding This is a great cold water, early spring bait and fish hit it hard when you let it pause. The finish is pretty durable and looks very realistic. Typical Lucky Craft quality. These break the bank, but are worth it. Just fish them in open water and don't thrown them too close to anything you might snag it in... hahaha. March 22, 2010

Fished many LC jerkbaits. Thing with the LC jerks is that many are suspending models. When the water gets to 60 deg. or above you want to typically go with a floating jerkbait and use very short pauses and work the bait quicker. The suspending models get the job done, but you have to move them quick. The staysee will catch them any season just have to tweak your presentation to the conditions, water, structure, etc....

My best success on this bait was in the fall. The Smallies tear it up and when the temp starts to drop the Largemouth really go after it

These suspending jerkbaits shine best when the water is cooler, or in the summer after a cold front. The fall brings cooler nights and dropping water temps. The suspending nature helps keep the staysee in the water column where the fish are and it will not float up. Very important when trying to fool weary bass. Thumbs up to the Staysee in the fall!

I use my jerkbaits anytime I have good to excellent water clarity, and I have success on them from early spring through late fall.
I have never used them in the winter as we have to deal with ICE up here in good ol' NE Pennsylvania!!!!
Don't be afraid to break the rules a little bit with these lures. I have seen many tourneys won on these when no one else would think of throwing them. I won my last tournament on the Susquehanna River throwing one of these, retrieving it rather quickly and the water clarity was maybe 20-24 inches!!

I mainly fish stripers but also fish largemouth and smallmouth bass. Gizzard shad and threadfin shad are the main bait fish at powell.

I don't think it matters where you fish, these lures have been nailing them since the day they came out. I have yet to find a lake that I couldn't get a few on these.

Not sure about the Gen 1. But the Gen. 2 is the suspending model. When you see the *SP next to or in the model name that means it is a suspending bait. The version Bass Pro sells is the Version 2. Version 3 is a very slow sinking model.

A:
These would be version 2's. Version 3's are Gary Dobyns' models that sink slowly; which I might add can be accomplished with a little tweaking of your own. I haven't seen a version 1 sold except on ebay in several years now.

Hmm. hard to answer here...I say that with a smile on my face as I have had smallies come up from 30 feet to nail these! Heck, I have had the standard Lucky Craft pointers that go down to maybe 4 feet get smacked in 20+ feet of water.
Throw it out there!!!!!

i like the staysee's but the pointer's are great as well. it's a matter of choice. i suggest trying both and making a decision. i live on the west coast and know nothing about lake erie. however, i catch a gang of smallmouth on this lure. i think they would work anywhere, on lg or sm. any fish that eat's minnow's will attack the staysee's and the pointer's on sight. good luck--

I have used both baits from Seattle to southern CA. and they both produce great. but i have caught more spots and smallies with the staysee 90. it just seems to get a little deeper. chartruse shad is a must when you pick a color. strike kings sexy shad is similar to this and probably modeled after it. I have been throwing it since the 90's
