You get what you pay for.
There is a reason these baits are so expensive... it is because they are by far the best baits you can buy.
Every Lucky Craft I have owned has suspended perfectly horizontally, right out of the box. The bait may slowly rise or fall, but that is because of water temperature. The important part is that the bait stays level.
The weight transfer system is rock solid and very reliable. These baits cast much farther and smoother than other jerkbaits. Rapala has tried to imitate the weight transfer system on their X-raps, but it doesn't always work.
As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. You can catch fish on Rogues or X-raps, but because Lucky Crafts cast further and suspend perfectly, they will help you catch more fish.

Maybe my favorite jerkbait
This was the first lure I've ever used to catch more than 30 bass in a day. First time really using it I caught five fish in five casts, including a smallie over 5lbs. These lures are very durable and have great side to side action on each jerk. With some lures I always want to upgrade the hooks right out of the box, but these are quality hooks which only need replacing once fish have mangled them the the point of to return. Paint holds up good, even to pike teeth. They set the standard in my opinion as far as casting weight and design.
