I recently got into drop shotting. I wanted a small thin profile worm to use. I was pointed to these.
I bought the 4" red shad. Red Shad in just about every other plastic I own, produces fish for me so I was very optimistic. My biggest supprise was the 20 count and the price. Anytime a bait is bargon priced and large quantity, its a hit with me. These are also covered in salt!
I rigged these drop shot style with a 1/0 thin wired straight shanked hook. Just hooked them through the nose. The action for such a small worm is amazing. Especially with no curl tails or appendages.
These were a hit with crappie and the hybrid bass. I caught appox. 12 fish in the first two hours. None over 12 inches but they did produce. I didn't catch any Large Mouth, but its more the conditions and location for that.
I wanted to see if this worm would dry out when left on the rod. Its been 2 weeks in the garage with 95 plus heat and the worm is still full of action.

I saw these on sale for a buck, and just couldn't not buy them. I have found that these worms are great for drop shotting. These are the first worms that I drop shotted with and now love them.

Having purchased these baits in three different colors I'm struck by how different they look than in the pictures. They're ALL FLAKE! Huge flakes. There's so many flakes there's no color in the worm. I don't know what they look like to the fish, but to me they look like a dime-store disco ball.
I bought these because my aging stock of Kalin's Western Worms is getting really thin and the looked to have the same profile (much like the color remarks above, I'd only seen these online prior to purchase).
Safe to say, these may have come out of the exact same molds my Western Worms did but those molds have aged and degraded during the last decade. You can even see it in the stock photos here - if I'd been looking...
Color #81 (cotton candy) you can see has only half the tail--it's a partial pour. Color #44 (Watermelon pepper/neon) has a huge tail, because it's got extra material (called flash) from where the mold top and bottom didn't fit together. When you get your bag of these worms...these will be the least of your problems.
I tied one on that had flash ALL THE WAY around the worm. Then 4 or 5 in that bag had huge kinks in them. I'll definitely be trying to return these. Even if one of these mutant worms is some type of "super worm", no two in the package are going to fish the same - I'll get to fish the worm missing the inch of tail right after the one with the corkscrew bend in the head.
It astounds me that I got several packages of 18ct of BPS cut-tail worms and all were perfect pours. The colors on the laminate package were even pretty consistent. And they're the same price as this item. Wish I wouldn't have been so excited about getting two more of THESE...
Being a budget bait doesn't excuse the horrendous quality control!

Awesome on a drop shot. Lil' smaller than other finesse worms which is a good thing when things are tough...
