Designed by Elite Series Pro Rick Clunn, the Luck-E-Strike Freak Deep Diver Crankbait signals a drastic change to deep diving lures and the way they perform. Fitted with a square bill, the Freak deflects off cover in deep water as its shallow cousin does. However, a unique lip design gives the Freak a completely new water displacement signature that bass haven't seen or felt before. This lip design also allows the crankbait to maintain a very tight action that's not characteristic of other deep divers. While other deep divers feel mushy in really deep water, the Freak allows anglers to maintain contact. Another unique feature is this lure's flat tail which gives it a more natural appearance. After all, no baitfish has a round tail.

I used this lure all summer and I'll tell you it put Bass in the boat. However I don't believe this lure will go to 20 ft. I was throwing it in 14 to 16 ft and if I could clip the grass I had fish in. I was using 12 lb fl. or 10lb mono. Both line did the job. Long cast with my Lew's MG Tournament and 7' Med Hev Lew's SG rod. The lure got the job done.

Once in a while, what seems like a really good idea comes along that just doesn't work. I'm a Rick Clunn fan but this one fails badly. I took this lure to Guntersville and tried to fish it in deep water. Long casts on 12 lb. fluorocarbon and couldn't find the bottom. Kept moving shallower and finally found the bottom in 6 to 8 ft. of water. Over 8 ft., you will not have to worry about hanging up in the grass. Sorry Rick.
