For crappies and smallmouth bass, the Luck-E-Strike Swimmin' Minnow is the hottest bait in the Ozarks. The Swimmin' Minnow's true-to-life minnow shape combines with its super-soft, high-action curly tail to produce some outstanding action. No tackle box is complete without at least one bag of Swimmin' Minnows!

Best universal bait This is one of the best baits to use for catching Pan fish, Large mouth Bass, Catfish, Bluegill and Crappie. easy to use and lasts a long time. April 28, 2010
The One and Only I have been using the Swimmin' Minnows in both sizes for years. They are the best for catching crappie, white bass, and Walleye. In the last 2 days I caught my limit of crappie in less than 2 hours with the 1" Blue Galazy on a 1/8 oz jig head in 10-12 ft. of water. The water temperature was 85. They are a main staple in my tackle box all year long. I don't use any other bait for crappie anymore. I just find the right jig head weight, the right color of minnow, the right length of minnow ,and the right depth and catch them all year long. You can't go wrong with these fish catching machines.... August 19, 2010
reliable bait I go through a lot of these baits because they really attract fish, both pan fish and game fish...and the northern usually rip them up pretty good, or they just rip off the whole rig. I also have to dig them out of a bluegill's mouth because they take 'em deep. You can trun the jig upside down and rig this bait a second time...I sometimes even bite off the worn part at the head and rig them again...Good action. June 23, 2011

Hi, you might try a 3/16-ounce with 3/0 swimbait hooks. No matter how you fish them or if you rig them up on a multi-lure rig a soft bodied swimbait will catch fish. 3/16 – or 1/4-ounce jig is appropriate and most anglers prefer to rig this bait on a weighted super line extra wide gap 3/0 to 6/0 hook. See photo for chart found online.

Thanks

I use a 1/8 or 3/32 lead head crappie jig. Not sure what size hook it is. Do not believe you can choose hook size. The size of the lead determines that?

A:
it's hard to determine the right size for crappie because too small(2 1/4' or smaller# means other panfish will attack your lure before the crappie will and to big#3' or larger promotes bass# so the ideal is 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 works best

A fellow outdoor writer loves this lure. He uses the smaller size for panfish, and larger for bass. They have a great action, but be sure to place the hook so that the tail curls upwards. Also, try them with a Road Runner head, which can be purchased separately.
