For crappies and smallmouth bass, the Luck-E-Strike Swimmin' Minnow is the hottest bait in the Ozarks. The Swimmin' Minnow's true-to-life minnow shape combines with its super-soft, high-action curly tail to produce some outstanding action. No tackle box is complete without at least one bag of Swimmin' Minnows!
Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 39 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Incredible and Irreplaceable! The Luck E Strike Swimmin Minnow is the best small soft plastic bait I have found in a long time. I fish it on streams and small rivers, on a round 1/16 ounce jighead, 4-pound test line, with an ultralight rod. I use the firecracker pattern 2 1/4" minnow, and the smallmouth bass just can't get enough. A medium-slow retrieve over gravel flats, rock humps, and around logs works very well. It's also very effective on trout, and I have caught crappie, bream, largemouth, goggle eye, and more on this bait. It's very versatile, and now an essential addition to my bait box. Please, Bass Pro, never stop carrying this bait! November 28, 2006
Rated 5 out of 5 by Luck-E-Strike Swimmin Minnow This is an excellent lure for most any type of pan fish. I use this most often when fishing for Crappies. March 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by catching walleye on these We used these on a lindy rig with either a worm or leech and we caught walleye on them. A guy fishing with us wasn't catching so we had him put one on and then he starting catching. July 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by These Do Work - Read the Reviews As every other review has mentioned, these do work! Order some and put them on a 1/16oz crappie jig and get your crappiestacks UP! - JDKNS May 30, 2013

A:
Hi, you might try a 3/16-ounce with 3/0 swimbait hooks. No matter how you fish them or if you rig them up on a multi-lure rig a soft bodied swimbait will catch fish. 3/16 – or 1/4-ounce jig is appropriate and most anglers prefer to rig this bait on a weighted super line extra wide gap 3/0 to 6/0 hook. See photo for chart found online.

I use a 1/8 or 3/32 lead head crappie jig. Not sure what size hook it is. Do not believe you can choose hook size. The size of the lead determines that?

A:
it's hard to determine the right size for crappie because too small(2 1/4' or smaller# means other panfish will attack your lure before the crappie will and to big#3' or larger promotes bass# so the ideal is 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 works best

A fellow outdoor writer loves this lure. He uses the smaller size for panfish, and larger for bass. They have a great action, but be sure to place the hook so that the tail curls upwards. Also, try them with a Road Runner head, which can be purchased separately.
