Rated 4 out of 5 by Gregtx71 Nice Product for your Boat
I purchased this a few weeks ago, along with the Lowrance HDS7. I installed the HDS, got all working then installed the SonicHub. Spent 3 hours trying to get it too power on. Went step by step, rechecked everything no luck. Finally had to call technical support, they informed me that i needed the NEMA 2000 Starter kit for the system to work. Spent another 60 dollars to get the starter kit, once installed system came right up.
If you purchase this system be sure to order the NEMA 2000 starter kit or it will not work. It never tells you this in the instructions.
Overall it is very nice to have on the boat and sounds really good.

If you like listening to tunes or the radio while on the water, the SonicHub is the deal. With SonicHub, your HDS units serve as the radio interface, eliminating the need for the traditional stereo head unit. SonicHub has a built-in radio tuner and a docking station for USB thumb drives, IPods, etc. Coupled with the LWX-1 Sirius radio antenna, you have all the audio options. It's easy to install, and the speakers sound great.

I installed this in my 2008 Bass Cat Cougar FTD and absolutely love it so far. I installed the module and IPod dock in my rod locker to make it very unobtrusive. It is very easy to operate through my HDS-10 and the sound is surprisingly good.

I am not sure about the stand alone stereo, but it will run the four speakers and the subwoofer. It has an amplified lead for the subwoofer. They also have RCA plugs to add other modules to it for example sirrus radio/weather.
Yes, you have to have the NEMA 2000 starter kit before you can use the sonic hub on your HDS system. You have to purchase the sirrus/weather antenna that connects to the back of the sonic hub. You should be ready after that.
I can now answer my own question. One also needs to purchase the Lowrance LWX-1 Sirius Audio & Weather Antenna. And if going to use the radio feature of the LWX-1, also purchase a Headphone/Computer Speaker Extension Cord and an Audio Y-Cable. The Extension Cord plugs into the side of the LWX-1 interface and the Y-Cable into the (L) & (R) satellite inputs of the SonicHub. The instructions provided with both the SonicHub and the LWX-1 are not at all clear on how to make the audio for the radio work.
