Excellent Product I bought this device 6 months ago and have been very impressed with it from the moment I took it out of the box. It has a ton of features and great expandability. Salmon fishing means fishing in salt water and at depths of 100' plus and I was doubtful the downscan and sidescan would be very effective in these conditions but I've found good definition to about 150' on the downscan and just the other day found a school of salmon 75' to the side of the boat. I marked them with a waypoint, came about and boom picked up 3 fish. As I learn more about what's on the screen my results continue to improve. I love my HDS 7. July 24, 2014
Small unit - many features I bought the HDS 7 last season and use it every time I go out on the boat. There are so many features and I am pleased to see that with simple software updates, Lowrance allows existing customer to extend the product with services and components. Since buying the unit I have added Sirius weather and audio, as well as the wifi hotspot, so I can control this unit from anywhere on the boat, even from on the dock. When anchored out I can now simply open my iPad from the luxury of my bed and check that we are still on the hook, check the weather, switch on the audio, see if the fish are biting - even plan the days navigation. A lot of features for one small unit. Now if I could connect the unit to the internet through my phone, it would open up another whole new world of opportunities.... July 24, 2014
Overall great unit Easier to use than non-touch model. Exellent features. Priced competitevly but, that needs to come down. The big problem is updating. I have no idea why Lowrance puts the updates in a "zip" file when the unit does not recognise a "zip" and the file has to be transformed (by the user) to read .exe to load into the unit. What's up with that? The fact that the "spotlight scan ' doesen't require a separate pole mounted to the trolling motor shaft is a plus and shows more use of technology. July 24, 2014
Down scan has changed my fishing success Good for up to 120 feet of water. Not bright enough for bright days. Excellant for night fishing. User manuals really stink, but the tech support is excellant. Price is reasonable. I now know the difference between kelp and fish on the finder. My fishing success has improved after i got the down scan and finally have learned to get the best out of it. My friends are jealous so now i dont have any problems finding fishing partners July 24, 2014

A:
The LSS-2 will come with the mounting bracket to mount on the transom of the boat. We do not have a trolling motor mount for this transducer due to its length, as it is too long for most trolling motor housings.

A:
The HDS-7 will connect to the built in transducer with the appropriate adapter from Minn Kota. This will only work for the traditional Sonar, you will need to install the StructureScan transducer on the transom of the boat, as it would interfere with the traditional Sonar if installed on the trolling motor.

Hi, thank you for your inquiry. The Elite-5 HDI unit does have NMEA 2000 connections on them, however it is for using a network GPS antenna and sharing waypoints with another Elite unit.

The customer will not gain any other functionality by connecting the Elite unit to a HDS one.

A:
No, the LSS2 is plug and play with this unit. Also, if you have a Gen2 or Gen1 HDS this unit will function as the "black box" for those units as well given that they are connected through an ethernet network.

You should be able to use the 2D readings at any speed as long as the transducer is installed correctly. For side scan readings, under 10 mph is effective, with 4-6 mph providing the best images.

A:
Yes it can. There are 3 different mounting options for these locators. The first is the included bracket if that will fit on your dash. The second option is to flush mount it in your dash if you have space. The third option is to used a RAM mount or like branded mount that you will have to purchase separately.
