For what I bought this for it works great. The DSI also works great. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because there is really no intructions and hardware with it and your pretty much left on your own. With a little patients and knowledge you can put it in pretty easily though. I was just trying it out in our jet boat and it was still reading depths at 35 mph in 1.5 feet of water.

Recently purchased the 4x dsi for my Gheenoe and got my Lowrance cover. Went out this past weekend. The unit worked great. Was looking at structure in our home lake never seen before. As for the shade issue in the sun. Lowrance should put small indention at the top of fish finder for the cover to lift up and click into place as a visor. For a small fee I will share my design, but for now. A lil piece of 100mph tape does the trick for the guys needing the shade. Get your 4x covers and try the tape it woks. Thanks again BPS. Great fish finder.

I recently purchased this fishfinder to be mounted in front and compliment my Lowrance Elite 5 DSI. My boat is winterized right now but I look forward to using it in the future. The only issue I had when I bought my Elite 5 was dealing with the owners manual - it could be alot better for those of us starting late in life.

Not with just the DSI model you will need to get the chartplotter option.A:
No, the Elite-4x DSI does not have an option to mark/save waypoints. This is just fishfinder not a chartplotter. You would need the Elite-4 Color Fishfinder/Chartplotter Combo 38-535-184-00 or any other found through keyword search “Chartplotter.” ThanksQ:

Can I use this fish finder with a traditional sonar FF off the back of the boat at the same time?
Answers
A:
If both transducers are using the same frequency, they will interfere with each other once you reach a water depth that allows the two beams to cross. In shallow water, they may work together if the transducers are far enough apart.•Many of today's sounders can use more than one transducer frequency. Setting each unit on a different frequency will prevent interference.
•If are limited to using the same transducer frequency on each unit, you will have to run one at a time to avoid interference.

I am about 95% sure you can, your best bet though is to contact lowrance and then you will know for sure.A:

I'm looking for a fishfinder, but I want to angle it forward so I can see what's in front of me as opposed to what's directly underneath me.Answers

A:
if you aim the transducer foward it will read incorrect depths. If by any chance you have a trolling motor up front that would show you more of what is directly below you.Answers
A:
Yes you can, I have researched this and have seen a thru transom installation.
