Rated 5 out of 5 by great buy Bought for a second depth finder for shallow water trout fishing . Works great in shallow water easy to see even with small screen. Easy to use and also very easy to install. March 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome My old unit bit the dust a few days before my trip to Chickamauga. I wanted something cheap, but not junk. I could not have purchased a better unit for the money. Showed fish all trip long and great view in sun and shade. When it showed fish I caught fish. Great unit would recomment to anyone. December 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Still Happy I purchased this Fish/Depth Finder a couple of years ago and guess I did not express how I felt at the time. It has lasted for two hard fishing seasons and has not let me down. The price is lower now, technology advances i guess! I just like to fish and you will see them with this finder. December 2, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good product Poor enginering The design on this fishfinder leads me to believe that the designer never owned a boat. The power cable is only about three foot long. I needed to run the cable from my mid-boat console to the rear of the boat where the batteries are. There is no extention mentioned that was needed. The power cord needs a one amp fuse to connect directly to the battery and it is not included or mentioned that it is not included.I have to cut a one inch hole in the console to thread the wires to the unit. There is no gasket or retainer to keep the wires from falling into the console. And the hole is now a water leak into the console. I use the device for limited information and it does seem to work well for what I use it. October 25, 2013

Hi, thank you for your question. Yes, according to the Owner’s Manual the Elite-4X and the Mark 5x Pro units use the same dual-frequency 83/200 kHz Skimmer® transom-mount transducer. Manual: http://www.lowrance.com/Root/Lowrance-Documents/US/MARK-ELITE_SONAR-ONLY_OM_EN_988-10157-001_w.pdf.

I had to purchase extra cable at the local hardware store and mount it that way but it all depends upon where you locate it and how far it is to the back of your boat.

Fish outside the detection angle will not be detected. "Lowrance sonar units have very sensitive receivers and can detect return echoes from fish, structure or the bottom out to 60° or more. This means that the fish detection angle is 60° even though the cone angle is only 20°." Additional information is available on the Sonar Tutorial on Lowrance's Web site.

The transom mount transducer that comes with this unit would need to be mounted/screwed into your boat. I would recommend looking for a portable fishfinder that includes a suction cup mount and could be removed from the inflatable kayak. Thanks

Lasts for hours with a 12 Volt Marine battery.
You need to get the fish-finder sonar in the water, mounted to a trolling motor/Outboard.
Lowrance has the mounting bracket.
Might be a bit of a task to get 12 volts from small batteries.

The transducer is located on the outside of the boat and on the rear so you would have to drill a hole large enough for the cable to fit through and then seal it good with silicon or some type of sealant.

I mounted mine to the seat/box in front of me, using screws. Very easy to mount and has a release button to remove and put in your tackle box.

The transducer that is included can be used with a trolling motor if you purchase the trolling motor bracket. The bracket can be located using item number 38-578-372-00.

A:
The same way you mount a transom mount. However, If you have a flat-bottomed aluminum boat, some additional adjustment may be needed to accommodate the rivets on the bottom of the boat (i.e. the gap may need to be a little smaller than 1/8"). This will help you to avoid excessive turbulence at high speeds.
