Lodge Logic Cast-Iron Camp Dutch Oven Lid Lifter - 15''
For years I used a set of aluminum pliers with a hook on the handle, which is great for precise control of dutch oven lids (not that I'm performing brain surgery with a dutch oven lid). Care is required when removing lids so as not to dump coals into the Dutch Oven interior. This long hook is unwieldy. It is also nearly impossible to accurately place the lid once it's flipped over. I use an inverted lid for making eggs, pancakes, steaks, and just about anything else you could use a griddle for.
In summary, this will indeed lift a lid, but there are much better options out there.

Great for the grill
I don't use cast-iron cookware when I camp, so I don't know how good this tool is for lifting lids. I do however use this tool for my grill and campfire grates.
This tool is perfect for lifting cast-iron campfire grates and hot food and charcoal grates on the grill. I've had this tool for a few years and it works perfect for that.
Just another idea for this tool.

There are better ways
This product is not the best you can buy. There are better designs for lid lifters that provide for a firm grip on the lid handle. This one requires some care to avoid dumping coals into your food or onto the ground. I'd keep shopping to find a better lifter. This is one product Lodge could improve on.
