Cook almost anything in it, easy to use. It wouldn't be a mountain camping trip without it. Spread aluminum foil on ground, shovel hot coals from a fire onto foil or use a charcoal chimney to prepare some charcoal. set the oven over half coals, filled with favorite fruit cobbler mixture, put lid on and cover lid with the rest of the coals. The ridge holds them on and won't let them fall off into the food when you peek. Wait the required time and carefully remove lid with lid lifter. Enjoy. Contact nearest BSA troop for recipe. The aluminum foil protects the ground from the heat for 0 impact camping.

Lodge dutch oven are a blast to cook with. I just completed teaching an outdoors cooking class and everyone loved cooking with the dutch. With practice, you can make anything. I would recommend them to anybody because they are a blast to use, a must have for any camping trip

This is an excellent dutch oven and a great size to cook for 5-6 family members. Always buy one with legs that elevate it above the bottom coals. I have used one for years with a Boy Scout troop. The rule is 24 coals. 14 evenly spaced on top and 10 evenly spaced underneath. Re-season after every use, put away dry and store in a large brown paper bag. Mine has never rusted.
