Introducing Lodge Logic: Ready-to-use cast-iron cookware, pre-seasoned for consistent performance!
For more than 100 years, Lodge has been perfecting the process of making cast-iron cookware, formulating the perfect metal chemistry to create durable cookware with incredible heat retention and distribution. In the past, the seasoning process was never complete until someone cooked countless batches of fried chicken, catfish and cornbread in the pan or pot to burnish it to a black patina, creating a piece of cookware that could be handed down like an heirloom. Lodge Logic removes the waiting, thanks to a newly-developed seasoning process. Lodge's electrostatic spray system applies a proprietary vegetable oil combination to deeply penetrate the pores of the iron. The result? Seasoned cast-iron cookware from Lodge you can use it right out of the box.

A:
I would go to a 12" Lodge Camp Dutch Oven6qt is what thay call a bread oven
8qt deep is for cooking meat, stews and vegetables.
Lodge is your bether ovens thay are made in the good old USA
A:
The best all around size to start with is the 12” (8 quart). I find this to be best for stews (squirrel, turtle, etc.), cobblers, and anything for a hungry crowd. The 12” (6 quart) is best for biscuits (sourdough, buttermilk, etc.). After you get used to regulating the coals for the right temperature, then invest in something bigger for the Thanksgiving Turkey.Images for this Answer

Figure a diameter of 2-3" per person. That will satisfy even the hungry ones.A:
The 10" (4 quart) and 12" (6 quart ) seem to be the standard sizes you'll see used by most campers. I find the 10" sizes more than adequate for small groups like you mentioned and the size and weight is very manageable around the campfire. The 12" size tends to be a bit cumbersome due to the greater weight and size but still workable. I think you'd be fine with the 10" size for most camp meals.1 of 1
