This seat base matched up perfectly compared to my old one that badly needed replacing. Too bad it doesnt come with new hardware but the old nuts and bolts were ok to reuse again.

I have used several of these bases over the years. Very well built and last forever. The only drawback is that there isn't any mounting hardware included.

I was a little disappointed to discover that this base plate didn't come with mounting hardware but a few dollars at the hardware store fixed the problem.

i cant get the post out of the base...it keeps getting frozen inside...what can i do to prevent it from my next replacement??? any kind of a lubricant i can use??? i mostly fish in salt water now with my aluminum bass boatAnswers
A:Â
Per the manufacturer, the plastic bushing will swell a little making it hard to remove the post. You might lightly sand or file the bushing or call the manufacturer and they could send some new ones. ThanksContact Attwood: 616-897-2303 www.attwoodmarine.com

Was wondering if seats fitted with the pin mounts will "swivel" in these base plates, or do they lock in position? Do you need to add an additional swivel plate?Answers

whats the difference between threaded base plate and the base plateAnswers
A:Â
I have used both, the threaded is just that the post base screws into the plate. I am currently using the king pin type this held in the base by compression and just pulls out when you want to remove it. Both work well, screw in will last longer, but has added cost on all items.A:Â
the post actually thighten down to the baseDetails:Â

If you can stand on the center of the hatch cover without it bowing or flexing and the hatch isn't to large, then you may be able to install one on it.My Tracker boat came with one of these installed on the fiberglass rear storage compartment lid and it is holding up fine. My hatch lid is about an inch thick, but it is also 3 feet wide and 2 feet long. The smaller the hatch size the better. See if you can install a piece of 3/4" marine plywood (a little smaller than the lid) to the bottom of the hatch lid to add strength.
One other note, the bottom of the tube has no bottom on it, so water can run through it and down into the storage area.
