It works as advertised, even when wet. Get you some vaseline soaked cotton balls and this fire starter and you can have a fire going most anywhere.

Definitely a good buy. It's durable, easy to use, and fits conveniently in your pocket or a pouch on your backpack. I would say this is the most reliable fire starter you can purchase... it's not effected by water and never needs a butane refill. You'll for sure get your $12.00 worth of strikes out of it. Would also make a great gift.

Good to have but I would rather have the magnesium starter. That way you have something for the spark to ignite as well as the striker.

a firesteel is a must have in any backpack, this one works great produces good amount of sparks. only reason i didnt give it a 5 star rating is that it is a small firesteel (the grip is generous and allows a good hold, it is the rod itself which is thinner and shorter than other firesteels) and is overpriced compared to others.
