Leatherman Wingman Multi-Tool
Just what I was looking for...
This was the multi-tool that I was looking for. It is compact yet has enough features to make one feel fully prepared. I love the frame-locking blade on the outside that can be opened one handed. One modification I made by adding a 550 para chord lanyard tied through the hole beneath the scissors. Most of the time I am using this tool I am either in the floors or ceilings of buildings running wires or in a boat on the water. I like having the lanyard to prevent losing the tool.
The tool is compact enough that I routinely wear it clipped to the inside waist band right behind my right hip-bone. Worn in this way, it is easily accessible as well as out of the way of keys and coins that one might keep in a hip pocket. It is also the only way to keep it on you when wearing flimsy dress pants...something my job often calls for.
I recently took it camping and used it for everything from starting the fire (with a flint fire starter sold separately) to opening the can of beans.
5 stars also for the price. Did not have to break the piggy bank for this one and it is "name brand!"

a great film tool!
I am a videographer and often find myself in situations where tool kits are fairly inaccessible. I picked this little guy up to always have the basics with me. It is a little bit bigger than my usual pocket knife that I carry but packs everything that I need to do minor maintenance on my cameras and support gear. Very Pleased.
It gets 4 stars because I noticed that after my last shoot in on the coast Northern California, a small amount of rust has appeared on the blade. not a huge deal.

Simply put I am happy with this product. I have only used it a little bit (the package opener works great) but overall I am pleased with the quality and the price. All of the pivots are firm and there is not play in any of the tools. I have not owned it long enough to comment on the durability.

I guess the Liberals would call it a weapon because it has a single sharp blade. But even a firearm is a tool and this tool is a good choice for anyone who owns a firearm. While it won't replace the actual tools designed to work on firearms (hollow ground screw drivers, barrel wrenches, etc) it will help fix a lot of problems without carrying your 50-lb tool kit. It's not the best (much less authentic) patch knife, but it works. It will also help in a medical emergency if items are needed and you must cut up your shirt or other things. And while I wouldn't want to try it, you can pull a tooth with it, too.
