Talk about a great conversation piece. A whopping 38'' long and 15'' high, this largemouth holds a standard 6-1/4'' x 7-1/2'' x 19'' mailbox in its belly. It's realistically painted, made from nearly indestructible polyethylene to withstand severe weather yet still sports glass, taxidermy-style eyes. Hardware included. Made in USA.

Simply put. It peeled and fell apart in no time. Wonderful idea. I'm thinking a dead fish would last longer outside than this thing did. Zero durability. The finish pretty much washed right off after just one season. Even their zinc lag bolts rusted! This thing is one year old now. I posted a picture of it with this review.

I purchased this item and after installing it I had people stopping to take pictures. But after the first year I could tell the paint on the fish wasn't going to hold up. Even the paint on the metal mailbox portion has cracked and flaked. After 2 years it looks terrible.

Very poor product. Description says its made out of "practically indestructible material made to withstand weather" ....We had our mailbox up only 4 months and the paint was peeling. We only saw reviews that others had problem with this after it was too late. It should be sprayed with protective coating from manufacturer before hand since that is what they advertise in description and due to the fact that so many people are having problems with the paint peeling, the manufacturer should recall these and replace with a new one that is protected. VERY SAD that this costs $100 and is such a poor product.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by wannabemechanic second mailbox purchase
this is the second Largemouth Bass mailbox i have purchased from Bass Pro. no complaint except for the fact that you must coat with clear outdoor polyurethane paint for the finish to last. i think this should be done at the manufacturer as the boxes are intended for outdoor use

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy some clear spray varnish. Apply several thin coats to prevent runs. Spray everything including the bolts after mounting it. Repeat once a year.A:Â
you can use some clearcoat paint for plastic.........A:Â
You may use a polyurethane spray occasionally to renew the finish. The spray may be purchased at most hardware stores.1 of 1
