  • Fully sealed conical drag system
  • Delivers optimal performance
  • Abrasion-resistant finish--no electrostatic paint
  • 100% solid polyurethane coating
Frame and spool were die-cast under high pressure from aluminum alloyLamson had one goal in creating the Konic: to make a reel with high-end performance, top-tier technology and a reasonable price. They incorporated the same fully sealed conical drag system featured in premium Lamson reels to ensure the Konic delivers optimal performance. The Konic's frame and spool were die-cast under high pressure from aluminum alloy, resulting in single-part pieces that are strong, smooth, and consistent. 100% solid polyurethane coating provides an abrasion-resistant finish--no electrostatic paint here! The result is a strong, sharp-looking Lamson Konic reel with great performance for the price. Color: Metallic Gray.

Lamson Konic Spare Spool sold separately and can be found through item search for sku number 1544587.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WOW Purchased the lamson konic in size 2for my 6wt. powell. Used it many times for nymphing and throwing streamers. What an unbeleivable reel. Sealed drag. No more removing the spool to clear sand, pure fishing. I also have the Lamson Velocity reel reel on my 8wt Hardy and the drag is the same. Great price, great quality and very light. Just purchased another one for my 4 wt. October 29, 2008
Rated 5 out of 5 by lamson konic 1.5 purchased this reel for my 4wt , price was right and the quality was outstanding. first time out with the new reel hooked into a 16 inch rainbow and the drag was silky smooth and up to strong runs in a heavy current. overall great reel for the money will be getting one for my 6 wt soon!!!!! You won't have a problem with the drag on this reel. It's the same drag Lamson/Waterworks uses on it's much more expensive reels.

I use a konic for catching longtail tuna (northern bluefin) to 20 kg and MacTuna (false albacore?) to about 12 kg's on 8 and 10 wt rods. After heaps of fish I've still not had a problem. These fish pull a couple of hundred yards of backing off the reel pretty quickly - never had a problem after 2 seasons. At the price I've got several and even if it does after 3 or 4 years it is great value.

To Unlucky angler, The retrieve on this reel as with all Lamsom reels is easily converted for either right or left hand. Prior to putting backing and fly line this should be done. If the retrieve is wrong for you than you need to visit your pro shop, have the line and backing removed and have the retrieve switch made and then install line and backing for proper operation.

Yes, absolutely. It is a friction fit. Go to Lamson Waterworks as they have "in your face" files for each reel & their function.

A:
Although the instructions on how to switch to left hand are a bit long winded, switching is fairly easy to do. Instructions: Changing the retrieve direction of your reel is accomplished by reversing the direction of an internal clutch assembly. First, remove the spool and unscrew by hand the cap at the end of the center cylinder. By removing the cap the clutch should fall out (tap lightly on flat surface if necessary, or use a pencil to help free
and control the clutch). Flip the clutch over and install. Female notches on the clutch must fit into male notches inside the cylinder. Use a pencil or similar clean tool to rotate the clutch as necessary. Reinstall the cap by hand. Cap should thread down flush with body.

I only use mine in saltwater and it gets the occasional dunking. But it is washed in warm fresh water after each outing (take it into the shower when you have a rinse), thoroughly dried and serviced.

It is suitable salwater because of the sealed drag and the drag system they use on the water works is all the same for every model.
