  • Ultimate live action swimbait
  • Separate body sections joined by tough, thin strips
  • True multi-jointed swimming motion
  • Garlic- and salt-impregnated
  • Fine scale detail
  • Top slit plus belly channel
The Live Magic Shad from Lake Fork Trophy Lures is the ultimate live-action swimbait! Made from soft plastic and impregnated with garlic, the technically advanced design of the Live Magic Shad mimics the swimming motion of a fleeing baitfish when retrieved. No matter how the Magic Shad is rigged, weightless, Texas, Carolina, drop shot, wacky, nail or on a jighead, the Live Magic Shad draw thunderous strikes no matter their mood.
Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 80 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not So Hot Bought a pack of 4.5". Baits work O.K. as a jerk bait but I thought this was more of a swimbait type. No action whatsoever on steady retrieve. May 31, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Incredible action The action is extremely realistic and the bait is loaded with garlic. I haven't torn one yet. April 28, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Value Swimbait Although this swimbait lacks the lifelike scales and eyes of some of the other swimbaits on the market, this bait makes up for it with its versatility. You can rig it with or without weight or on a jig head. Also, this bait has excellent action even if you are using it at slow speeds. Since it does have joints, it can be prone to breakoff; however, this has only happened to me after catching a nice sized largemouth (and i will take that trade any day). April 26, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent soft swim bait This swimbait was nothing short of amazing. I fished two lakes last year that were extremely clear and difficult to catch fish in. I had 2 fish in by every 7th cast. The bait is MOST effective when using a swimbait top-weighted hook. It was very easy to hook-up and the lures lasted for a while. At least 1 soft bait per 5 fish or so. It is a SOFT lure people. The fish seemed to hold it a bit longer, but it will wear down just like any other soft bait. Overall, a must have. Best ways to fish: moderate retrieve with an occasional jerk to imitate an injured shad. ps. I used pumpkin seed March 20, 2011

3/0 or 4/0 it has to be shy of the tail and you need a belly weight for ballast or they helicopter thru the water.

If you get the 3.5", which I recommend, the Gamakatsu 1/16th, 3/0 size hook fits like it was made for it. If you get the 4.5", the 5/0 size works well.

Buy em! I rig it on the 1/4 oz scrounger head the most. But if your in grass use the lake fork hooks. The 3.5 uses a 3/0 the 4.5 uses a 5/0 the 5.5 uses a 7/0 and the giant 8 uses a 10/0. Hope this helps

Hi,, I use the owner twist lock swimbait hooks in 3/0 and an eight of an oz weight. These are for the 3.5" and for the 4.5" use the 4/0 size hook. you cant fish these wrong.. Use bait casting or spinning.

A:
It depends on which size bait you are talking about and what species you are targeting. I use 3/0 or 5/0 weighted swimbait hooks, mostly 5/0 because I fish primarily for largemouth... and as their name implies they can easily take a 5/0 wide gap hook. If you want to fish for multiple species, use the 3/0.

The Gamakatsu swimbait hooks fit these just perfectly. I only use the 3.5" with the 3/0, and the 4.5" with the 5/0 hook. The lighter the weight, the better, as it gives it time to fall.

They don't in the package. But a swimbait hook that has a bottom mounted weight is the absolute BEST to use with this lure. The Gamakatsu swim bait hooks are the best to use with this lure. Just pick your size.

No, you will need to get the Gamakatsu swimbait hooks to go with them. Size and weight depend upon the bait size. 3.5" go best with the 3/0, 1/16th oz., while the 4.5" go great with the 5/0.

You can buy them already rigged in single packs, but it comes with what is basically a large jig head hook. They seem to perform a little better with weighted swimbait hooks.

certain ones do. ive bought packs of 1 before they come pre rigged, or you can buy a pack of five shads, and go to the hook section and lake fork made a hook weighted at the bottom of the hook made just for the magic shad.
