Perfect for swim jig
For fishing a weightless Texas rig I prefer the regular magic shad, but for a swim jig the boot tail is far better. I pair the 4.5 inch with the Strike King Squadron Jigs and a silicone skirt. The boot tail has enough kick that in addition to it's own movement it also overpowers the jig head and causes it so sway from side to side giving it a very lifelike action. When I'm specifically targeting big fish, this is the swimbait I rig up.

I've just started using these but so far I catch bass with them every time I go fishing. I rig them on a Chatterbait and the action is fantastic. Because of their thin, segmented design, they do tear fairly easy when catching a big fish but that is also part of why the swimming action is so good. Not a big deal to me - I'm happy to give one up to catch a nice bass. Just buy plenty, they are not that expensive.
