Being a one-man processing show the foot switch seemed like a good idea when I purchased my grinder. Now, I wouldn't grind anything without it, even if I did have extra help. Never having to touch the power switch or machine with dirty hands made clean up a snap. Regardless of whether you're processing by yourself or with your hunting crew this switch is a must.

Besides being a safety item this is a great third hand for the person doing their own processing. I use it while grinding and also stuffing and it's always been great not having to look for a switch with messy hands.
