Kolpin Gun Boot 6.0 Impact
I just returned from a Colorado Elk hunting trip. I installed the case on my King Quad and put on 80+ miles. The case performed very well, it kept the gun safe from the mud, trees and brush. The lid stayed open when putting in and removing my 300 win mag. Installation was easy. Sliding the case into the bracket worked well to include the sturdy clips to keep everything together. The interior cushioned case was my only concern - it could be a little thicker to ensure my rifle scope remained aligned. Nice ATV addition!

Good product, needs better padding
Overall I like the boot. I am using it to carry my gun on an ATV and wanted something sturdy. I have other gun boots that require the back end to be pulled off to access the gun. I didn't want to fumble with that. The hatchback design is really great. Easy open and easy close.
The main downside to this case is the thin lining. For something designed to be used on an ATV/UTV, the padding was very disappointing. Fortunately, my wife helped me add some padding to the liner to bring this case up to snuff. (Hint: 1/2 inch foam rubber padding on the will help.) For the price I paid, I didn't mind the extra work. But if you want something better out of the box, keep looking.
I would only recommend to a friend only if they were willing spend some extra time and money to beef up the padding. Otherwise, the design is great.

Quick delivery, however...
I ordered the gun boot for my husband's side-by-side as a Christmas present. He was very excited until we realized the hardware to mount was sold separately. We went to Bass Pro the day after Christmas - they were sold out (understandable). He went on-line to order, and the cost of the mounting brackets and shipping & handling was much as the gun boot cost itself!! That was very disappointing. I would have rather paid for this accessory as a complete package, ready to install with ALL components.

Worth the money.
The hunting season before last (2011) my dad rolled his atv, with a gun boot IV. The back popped off and broke his stock. Just today I rolled my atv, not only was my gun fine, but it stopped my atv from rolling over me. Sure it bent the bracket a little, but probably saved me some broken bones, bruises, and stitches. I ride a Arctic Cat, use an Arctic Cat mount, and have it oriented almost vertical. It stopped about a 25mph barrel roll over the top of me. The top of boot was buried about 5 inches in the dirt, where it planted.
The padding on the inside is not great, and it will wear a hole in the bottom, after about 200 miles. I bought a cheap soft case, leave it mostly unzipped, and stuffed it in there, and it works great. Very little effort, and 10 bucks. There is another model called the Transport that has a thicker pad in it as well.
